Volkswagen Tayron Spied Testing

Volkswagen has been spotted testing a new SUV in India, the Tayron. This marks as first three-row SUV, which is already available in international markets, has been seen on Indian roads. Its appearance has sparked quite a bit of curiosity, especially since its expected to slot above the Tiguan R-Line, positioning it as a direct rival to the recently updated Skoda Kodiaq.

Moreover, the Tayron is a mid-size SUV that shares its platform with the Tiguan and several other Volkswagen models. Globally, it sits above the Tiguan, offering more interior space, improved comfort, and most notably, a three-row seating configuration, something that could appeal to Indian families looking for a premium and practical SUV.

What's On Offer?

The Indian spec Tayron is expected to house the same 2.0-litre turbo petrol unit, which comes with the Skoda Kodiaq. Moreover, this unit is paired with a 7-speed automatic along with a 4x4 configuration. While it belts out 204 bhp and 320 nm of torque. As per the international specs, the Tayron boasts a plethora of features which including a 12.9-inch infotainment and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Additionally, it gets multi-zone climate control, a 360-degree camera, and park assist pro. Most importantly, the three-row seating configuration over the Tiguan. The Volkswagen Tayron will rival the Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster.
