Volvo XC40 Recharge Bookings To Open Soon; Gets 418 Km Driving Range

The bookings for the Volvo XC40 Recharge will commence from June this year and the deliveries for the same will happen from October. The Swedish brand also plans to bring in all-electric vehicles in the Indian market by 2025. As of now, they have discontinued the diesel engines completely.

Sharing the battery details first then it packs in a 78kWh unit which is placed right under the front seats. Don't worry as the space inside isn't hampered according to the Volvo. There are two electric motors placed on each axle which produces 402 bhp of power mutually and a peak torque of 660 Nm.

The top speed of the XC40 Recharge is limited to 180 kmph only just like any other Volvo car. The 0-100 km/h figure is even more impressive as it does the job in just 4.9 seconds. Phew, that is fast! The XC40 recharge is based on the same Compact Modular Architecture Platform.

As for the driving range is concerned then according to Worldwide harmonised Light Vehicles Test procedure cycle or the WLTP, it gets 418 km in a single charge which is not bad considering the Indian market which is still developing in the EV department.

The SUV is equipped with fast charging capability and one can juice up the battery from zero to 80% in just 40 minutes with the 150kW DC fast charger. One will also get the 11kW charger which takes 10 hours to charge the battery from 0-100%.

By design, it pretty much looks like the conventional XC40 but with few changes to the alloy wheels and white finished grille at the front to differentiate the electric version. It continues with the same glossy black treatment on the roof and ORVMs.
