Yamaha FZ Blueflex Launched At Rs 1.24 Lakh, Yamaha's First Flex Fuel Motorcycle For India

India Yamaha Motor (IYM) Ltd. has launched its first flex-fuel offering for the Indian market, the FZ Blueflex, at Rs 1.24 lakh (Ex-showroom). The newly launched FZ Blueflex is powered by a 149cc engine and can run on ethanol-blended fuel ranging from R20 to E85. The launch aligns with the government's push for blended fuel, and the brand claims it will help reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Read the details of the newly launched Yamaha FZ Blueflex below.

The newly launched FZ BlueFlex comes with the same design as the FZ Rave version. The front profile boasts a muscular and aggressive look with a projector LED headlamp and an LED DRL. The faux side air vents look appealing, and the overall side profile is identical to the FZ Rave. If we talk about the features, it comes with the same set of equipment as the FZ, including a digital instrument console, single-channel ABS, a rear disc brake, and all-LED lighting.

On the performance front, it is powered by a 149cc engine producing 11.5 bhp of power and 12.8 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The mechanical setup comprises telescopic front forks, 17-inch alloy wheels, and front and rear disc brakes. The brand has not made any changes to the hardware of the motorcycle.

On the launch of its first flex fuel motorcycle, Mr. Hajime Aota, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group, said, "Achieving a carbon-neutral future requires a dynamic, multi-pathway strategy rather than a single solution. Having already commenced our electric vehicle journey in India, the introduction of our innovative Blue Flex technology marks another strategic milestone. This move is a deliberate alignment of Yamaha’s global sustainability vision with the Indian government’s progressive biofuel policies. By embracing multiple technological avenues, we reinforce our commitment to global carbon neutrality goals while providing versatile, high-quality products tailored to the evolving needs of Indian consumers."

The new Yamaha FZ Blueflex is available in a single Mettalic Black colour and, in the initial phase, the motorcycle will be available at Yamaha’s select Blue Square dealerships in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana and Tamil Nadu. The new flex-fuel model will boost the adoption of flex-fuel vehicles in the market. However, the availability of E85 ethanol-blended fuel is currently limited in India, and there is still considerable debate surrounding the adoption of ethanol-blended fuel and its potential side effects. It will be interesting to see how this flex-fuel motorcycle performs in the market.
