Ather 450X Detailed Review
The new Ather 450X Gen 3 is here. In terms of looks and design nothing, much has changed from its older model. This means that the customers get the same futuristic and edgy styling as seen on the older model. Additionally, the near-perfect fit and finish also persist on the latest gen of the Ather 450. However, Ather has introduced new colour options for making it visually distinguished from its older model. The new colour scheme does look exciting. The grey with yellow livery, basically the scooter we had looked particularly striking in my opinion. It’s subtle and fresh. It comes equipped with the latest tech all over. The front headlight is an LED unit and so are the turn indicators. At the rear, the single-piece LED taillight remains unchanged as it still looks good and attractive. However, we wish that Ather changed a few things like the small rear-view mirrors and the headlight throw.
Summary
The looks & design of the new Ather 450X Gen 3 are identical to the older model with the addition of new colours.
450X body specifications:
| Ground Clearance | 170 mm |

As expected, the unchanged body and shape mean there is no change to the dimensions of the new Ather 450X Gen 3. However, the Ather 450 is known for its nimble design and sleek ergonomics since starting. The same remains persistent in the current new model. The overall dimensions of the Ather 450 have been designed by keeping in mind the Indian city traffic conditions and everyday parking struggles. The customers who already own the Ather are happy with its nimble and easy-to-handle size. Additionally, it does not come with any unnecessary wide-body panels as seen on some of its rivals. This results in an easy ride inside the cityscape.

The overall dimensions of the Ather 450X Gen 3 are nimble and easy to handle.

The main change on the new Ather 450X Gen 3 is undoubtedly its powertrain. Ather was missing on a longer riding range since its launch. Meanwhile, the competition has started to offer better performance with almost double the riding range. Hence, catering to this problem the Gen 3 now comes with a bigger 3.7 kWh battery pack. Additionally, the firmware is new along with a new permanent magnet AC motor that now delivers more power and torque. It now generates a peak power of 6200V and a top speed of up to 80 kmph. Meanwhile, the main jump is in the initial performance or pickup from the standstill. The Ather 450X can do 0-60 kmph in 6.94 seconds which makes up for a quick city riding experience. Meanwhile, it now comes with a claimed riding range of up to 146 km per charge. However, the rear riding range differs according to road conditions and traffic density. Ather claims that it takes about 5 hours and 45 minutes to completely charge a drained battery via a fast charger.
Summary
The Ather 450X Gen 3 performance and riding range is at par with segment rivals.

The tyres on the new Ather 450X are the same as seen on the previous model. This means that the same 12-inch setup is followed on the new model as well. The larger 12-inch tyres help in providing very confidence-inspiring handling with the Ather 450X. In addition, to control this performance, a single petal disc brake is provided at the front and a single petal disc brake has been provided at the rear also. The combination of these petal disc brakes makes up for strong braking performance. The Ather 450X can stop easily and drop speeds within seconds; all thanks to the braking system. Additionally, the features of the new Ather 450X are amazing as well. It comes with an IP65-rated 5-inch infotainment system. This system also equips Android OS with a fast Snapdragon 212 processor. Additionally, it has 4 riding modes – Eco, Ride, Sport, & Warp. Ather 450X also offers 4G connectivity along with Google Maps.
Summary
The tyres, brakes & features on the Ather 450X Gen 3 are well set up and are at par with the segment standards.
