What We Like

The petrol and CNG variants offer good fuel efficiency. The cabin feels very roomy, even in the second row. Maintenance is affordable, and spare parts are readily available. Available in a 7-seat layout with CNG option too.

What We Do Not Like

Ertiga has low crash test ratings. When three rows are in use, boot space becomes minimal. Interior lacks a premium feel. Third row feels cramped for taller passengers.

The Maruti Ertiga continues to be India’s best-selling MPV, and for good reason. It remains the go-to three-row offering for both family buyers and fleet operators (cabs). Aggressively priced, the Ertiga ticks all the right boxes including comfort, space for seven, low running costs and high resale value. The updated version gets improved usable boot space, crucial for CNG buyers. Likewise, the 6-speed automatic petrol (with paddle shifters) stands out as the powertrain to pick for private, self-driven buyers. Not the best looking car in the price segment, but a very practical workhorse for many.

What we admire in this car

It offers a spacious interior with 7-seats

The 1.5-litre NA petrol engine is fuel-efficient and well-refined

It offers practical utility spaces inside the cabin

The 6-speed AT gearbox is better than the previous-gen 4-speed AT

It comes with factory-fitted CNG with a claimed efficiency of 26.11 km/kg

The Ertiga is a superb highway car thanks in part to its fine-tuned suspension

The interiors of the Ertiga facelift are very spacious. They are also tech-loaded and comfortable.

It offers decent features. For example, a touchscreen infotainment. It also has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It has a projector headlamp and more.

What could have been better

The engine starts to scream at higher speeds

The safety features are not at par with rivals like the KIA Carens

The CNG variant limits the boot space

Last row feels a bit cramped for tall passengers

The quality of the interior could have been better
