Utility Vehicles Lead The Growth
Maruti Suzuki's Utility Vehicles segment, comprising the Brezza, Ertiga, e Vitara, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, Victoris, and XL6, posted the strongest growth among all segments, rising 46.27% year-on-year to 79,045 units in August 2026 from 54,043 units a year earlier. This segment now sits just behind the Passenger Cars category in overall volume, reflecting the continued shift in buyer preference toward SUVs.
Passenger Cars Segment: Compact Cars Drive Volume
The Passenger Cars segment, comprising the Mini and Compact + Mid-Size sub-segments, grew 29.37% to 85,965 units in August 2026, up from 66,450 units in August 2025. Within this, the Compact + Mid-Size range, made up of the Baleno, Celerio, Ciaz, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, and WagonR, grew 29.48% to 77,166 units, while the Mini segment (Alto, S-Presso) grew 28.40% to 8,799 units.
Vans And LCV Segment
The Vans sub-segment, represented solely by the Eeco, grew 10.90% to 11,961 units in August 2026 from 10,785 units a year ago. The Light Commercial Vehicle segment, comprising the Super Carry, grew 12.08% to 3,107 units from 2,772 units in August 2025.
OEM Sales And Exports Decline
Sales to other OEMs fell 47.53% year-on-year to 5,298 units in August 2026, down from 10,095 units in the same month last year. Export sales also dipped 7.37% to 33,844 units, compared to 36,538 units in August 2025.
April-August FY27 Performance
For the April-August period of FY 2026-27, Maruti Suzuki's total sales stood at 11,43,365 units, up from 8,89,070 units in the same period of FY 2025-26, marking a growth of 28.62%. Domestic sales (PV+LCV+OEM) for the period reached 9,54,729 units, while export sales for the five-month period touched 1,88,636 units, both marking a rise over the corresponding period last year.
