Tata Punch Facelift Latest Update
Last Updated On 5th Jan'26: The Tata Punch facelift is set to launch on 13 January 2026, and Tata Motors has released two teasers on its social media handles, offering several insights into what to expect from this mini SUV. For starters, the model will receive a refreshed design, more features, and, most importantly, a turbo-petrol engine.
Design: Refreshed front fascia with a reworked grille and a redesigned lower air dam, aligning it with Tata’s latest design language. The new headlamp units feature sleeker LED DRLs, giving the lighting a more modern appearance. Even the rear section has been updated with connected LED tail-lights, which not only enhance the overall look but also make the rear appear much wider. Revised alloy wheel design and fresh colour / dual-tone options likely to be offered. Subtle rear updates including revised bumper and skid plate, and potential connected tail lamps. Overall silhouette remains similar to the current Punch, but with a sharper and more premium presence on road.
Engine: The new teaser has significantly changed expectations from the upcoming Punch, as it hints at the introduction of a turbo-petrol engine option, making this a substantial update. As per our understanding, the Punch facelift will use the 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron engine, which is also offered in the Tata Nexon and Curvv. This engine produces 120 PS and 170 Nm of torque, and is expected to transform the overall driving dynamics of the Punch. Moreover, this engine is likely to be paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, as seen in the teaser, while a 5-speed AMT could also be offered. That said, the standard 1.2-litre naturally aspirated Revotron engine will continue in the lineup for budget-focused buyers, along with the CNG option. Overall, this move appears to be Tata’s effort to position the Punch as a more fun-to-drive offering.
Interior: The teaser reveals that the upcoming facelift will feature a large 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Below the screen, the AC vents appear to be of the same design as those seen on the Punch EV. Another notable update is the instrument cluster, which adopts a layout similar to the one used in the new Altroz. Overall, this update reflects Tata’s strategy of sharing components across models to make the cabin feel fresh and more premium. Additionally, new upholstery and seat options are expected, further enhancing the sense of space and airiness inside the cabin. Lastly, other expected features include a single-pane sunroof, a wireless charger, steering-mounted controls, and a cooled glovebox.
Expected Price: This SUV is expected to start at Rs 5.79 lakh (ex-showroom) and now the top variant with turbo petrol and AMT gearbox could cost around Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom). Like before, this SUV will compete with Hyundai Exter, Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite.
