More importantly, Tata has addressed the Punch’s biggest criticism - lacklustre performance - by introducing a new 1.2L turbo-petrol engine delivering segment-leading outputs of 120 PS and 170 Nm of torque. Should I buy the Punch?

If you're entering the car market for the first time or need a compact city-friendly SUV, the 2026 Tata Punch makes a strong case with its safety credentials, tall stance, and spacious cabin. It's easy to live with thanks to its comfortable ride, rough-road-friendly suspension, and the added flexibility of turbo-petrol and CNG-AMT powertrain options. That said, the naturally aspirated engine can feel strained on highways, while the AMT isn't the smoothest in traffic. Higher variants also overlap with larger SUVs like the Nexon, making the Punch best suited to buyer looking for practicality over outright space.
