Tata Sales August 2026: Punch And Nexon Push Dispatches To 65,253 Units, Up 59%

Tata Motors sales in August 2026 stood at 65,253 units which is an increase of 59% from 41,001 units a year ago. In the month of August Tata Punch sales figure was the biggest driver of this jump, meanwhile the Nexon sales has also seen a healthy growth. Month-on-month, Tata Motors sales rose 4.22% over the 62,611 units dispatched in July 2026. Let's look at how each model performed last month.

These two models are Tata's top sellers. Combined, the Punch and its EV version sold 21,320 units in August, almost double the 10,704 units sold in August 2025. That's 99% YoY growth. On a monthly basis, sales were flat, up by just seven units over July. The Punch alone made up close to a third of Tata's total volume last month. Moreover, the Nexon and Nexon EV stood at 18,431 units, which is an increase of 32% YoY and 5.5% over the month of July. In August 2026 Punch and Nexon were the models that contributed around 61% of everything Tata sold.

Apart from that the Tiago also had a strong month, with sales up 63% YoY on festive-season demand. The one model that lost ground was Sierra, which dipped to 5,622 units from 6,327 units last month.
Tata Holds On To Second Spot In The Industry

Tata Motors stayed in second place in India's overall car sales chart for August, ahead of Mahindra by a growing margin, wider than what it was in July. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki remained at the top of the chart with 1,76,971 units.

Tata's EV sales crossed 16,500 units for the first time, hitting 16,549 units across domestic and export markets that gives Tata a 43.74% share of India's EV market. The Punch EV also had its best month ever. Additionally, Tata has also announced a price hike across its passenger vehicle range from September 1, which could shape numbers in the coming months.
Sierra Sales Dip, But Safari Bounces Back

Tata Sierra and Sierra EV sales fell to 5,622 units, their lowest since the brand started deliveries back in January 2026. That's an 11% drop from July's 6,327 units. On the other hand, Safari sales have jumped by 34% over the July 1,953 units. Harrier also grew steadily, up 8.4% month-on-month. Altroz was the one model to lose ground on a yearly basis, down 23% from August 2025, though it did improve slightly over July.
