One of the exciting launches for January has to be the Tata Safari and the recent reports coming in straight from the manufacturer is that the production for the same has already been started and new information about the interiors are also out. The first unit looks majestic in the new blue colour.
Before we go any further and bring you all the latest updates from the production of Tata Safari and how the exteriors and interiors distinguish, make sure you are a member of our exclusive 91Wheels Telegram group where we bring you all the latest information related to the two and four-wheelers.
The first unit of Tata Safari rolled out from the production plant in Pune and will soon be available in the showrooms near you. Another interesting bit is that the Indian carmaker is using the power of digital platforms and launched the Tata Safari Imaginator Suite, which is packed with the augmented reality. This helps the customers explore Safari virtually by sitting anywhere.
For the exteriors, the looks have been moulded a little to differentiate it from the 5-seater Harrier. At the front, it now gets a new grille design followed by a stepped-up roof and the raked tailgate. On the inside, the Safari gets new and rich Oyster White colour scheme with ash wood dashboard. It surely gives an upmarket feel to the interiors now.
As far as the dimensions go then the Safari sports the same wheelbase as the Harrier but are now longer by 63 mm. To accomodate the last bench and extra passengers, the height too has been increased by a bit. The new Safari looks macho in appearance.
Unveiling the first official look of the new Tata Safari, Mr. Guenter Butschek, CEO & MD, Tata Motors said, The Safari is our flagship offering to connect the aspirations of the discerning and evolved Indian customer. It had introduced India to the SUV lifestyle and in its new avatar, will carry forward this rich idea to build further its legacy.
The new Tata Safari is ideal for families and groups with a multifaceted lifestyle, who prefer to drive together for work or leisure, as it offers an unmatchable combo of an exceptionally strong lineage, robust build quality, premium finishes and the 4Ps of Power, Performance, Presence and Prestige to Reclaim Your Life. We look forward to making the Safari rule the Indian roads once again.
The new Tata Safari will be made available with both 6 and 7-seat options and will target the likes of Mahindra XUV500, Jeep Compass and MG Hector Plus. Mechanically, it continues with the same 2.0-litre FCA turbocharged diesel engine churning out 170 PS with 350 Nm of peak torque. It will get a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard and an optional 6-speed auto for the higher variants. We expect that the pricing of the Safari will be Rs 1 lakh premium over the Harrier.
