2020 Force Gurkha BS6 - All You Need To Know About Mahindra Thar Rival
2020 Auto Expo wasn't too interesting due to limited participation and hardly any launches. However, for some of us, it was exciting as several facelifts are scheduled for the future in the coming months. And one of them is the all-new 2020 Force Gurkha BS6 which was showcased at the Expo. This was the SUV that caught our eye the most.

No, do not confuse the showcased Gurkha with a mere facelift. This is a whole new generation of Force Gurkha which uses an updated engine, new chassis and comes with modern comfort and safety features. Here, in this article, we will tell you about the Mahindra Thar Rival, the all-new Force Gurkha!
Exteriors
Force Gurkha BS6 retains most of its look from its predecessor but gets some element changes like the LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lights), new front and rear bumper design, updated fog light housing, tweaked taillight design and the same 3-door set-up. When launched, we hope the dealers can give in 2 jump seats for the last row. A 5-door version will also be on sale for those looking at an extra number of seats.
New Chassis
Force Gurkha sits on an all-new platform with an improved frame and gets in new suspensions. It not only gets a solid body but the platform enhances improved looks of the SUV. Notice the increased sized wheel arches which react to the 'take me anywhere' quote seriously. It will also come with a 3-inch lift kit as standard from the company that will allow owners to put in wider / larger tyres without any modifications.
Revamped Interiors And Features
The Old Gurkha lacked the basic creature comforts that made it hard to use as a daily driven car. The new one here gets a touchscreen unit, power windows, HVAC Controls, a new instrument cluster with digital multi-information display etc. We are also told that Force dealers will be offering a lot of accessories at the showroom level itself that customers can purchase. These include alloy wheels as seen in the pictures here.
The new Gurkha also gets updated safety features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD, high-speed alert system, front seat belt reminders, rear parking sensors and among others.
New Engine
The old Gurkha used a 2.6L diesel engine which churned out 90 bhp and comes with 4x4 setup as standard. As per the reports, the new Gurkha is expected to come with an updated 2.2L new engine which will be BS6 compliant. This will churn out more power and will be more efficient. Official figures aren't out yet though.

Prices
With the all-new platform, new features, updated engine and styling, the prices of the 2020 Force Gurkha BS6 will see a higher bracket than its older version. We can expect it to sit in a price of Rs 10.65 lakh to Rs 12 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. These will be more or less similar to what the upcoming 2020 Mahindra Thar will demand in terms of ex-showroom pricing.
