However, the first name which comes to our mind when someone asks about the 125cc motorcycle category is the Honda Shine. The Honda Shine was first launched in the year 2006 and since the past 15 years, it has been one of the best-selling 125cc motorcycles in the country. The Shine has very strong reasons to support its popularity. Recently, Honda has launched the new BS6-compliant Shine 125 in the market. Honda Shine 125 is a no-nonsense commuter motorcycle. It sports a very subtle design language and looks very attractive. At the front, the new BS6 Shine 125 gets chrome surrounds around the angular headlamp. The side profile of the motorcycle has a nice appeal as it now gets new attractive body graphics. It also gets subtle chrome inserts on the exhaust muffler, body panels and it also gets a chrome-embellished three-dimensional Honda logo on the fuel tank. The rear profile of the new Shine is the same as before. The new Honda Shine 125 BS6 is offered in four colour variants: Black, Geny Grey Metallic, Athletic Blue Metallic and Rebel Red Metallic.

2020 Honda Shine 125 BS6: Engine, Transmission and Mileage

The 2020 Honda Shine 125 is powered by a BS6-compliant 124cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine. This motor churns out 10.7 PS of power at 7500 RPM and 11 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM. The engine comes mated to 5-speed manual gearbox. The new Shine gets Honda's Enhanced Smart Power (eSP) technology that maximizes performance as well as fuel efficiency. It also features Honda's Eco Technology (HET) and an ACG silent starter motor. The new Honda Shine 125 BS6 delivers around 55-60 kmpl of mileage in real-world conditions.

2020 Honda Shine 125 BS6: Tyres, Brakes and Features

The new Honda Shine 125 sits on a diamond frame. For suspension duties, it gets telescopic forks at the front and hydraulic type 5-step adjustable dual shock-absorbers at the rear. The braking duties are performed by a 130 mm drum brake at the rear while at the front, one can choose between a 240 mm disc or a 130 mm drum unit. It also gets CBS or a Combined Braking System as an additional safety aid. The motorcycle runs on 18-inch HET tubeless tyres. Both the tyres measure 80/100-18 and they offer low rolling resistance to increase fuel-efficiency. The new Shine 125 gets an analogue instrument cluster that displays all the basic ride-related information.

The new 2020 Honda Shine 125 is available in two variants - Front Disc and Front Drum. Currently, the Front Drum Brake variant is priced at Rs. 68,812 while the Front Disc Brake variant is priced at Rs. 73,512. All prices stick to Ex-showroom Delhi. It rivals against the Hero Glamour 125, Super Splendor 125, Honda SP 125, Bajaj Pulsar 125, etc. Finally, talking about the verdict, so if you want a no-nonsense 125cc commuter with a refined powerplant that delivers great mileage, looks good and has decent features, then you should definitely consider buying the new Honda Shine 125 BS6.
