Hyundai recently launched the all-new second-generation 2020 Hyundai Creta in India. The second-generation model of the Creta is sold as Hyundai ix25 in some international markets like South Korea and China. The Hyundai Creta has enjoyed staggering success all-over the world and is a very popular mid-size SUV in India too. Now, we all know that Hyundai is working on the 7-Seater version of the Creta since a real long time. The 7-Seater Creta has been spied undergoing testing process multiple times in its native country South Korea. And now, for the first time ever, the 2020 Hyundai Creta 7-Seater SUV has been spied on test in India.

The 2020 Hyundai Creta 7-Seater SUV will be an elongated version of the new-gen Creta. Hitherto, the 7-Seater Creta was spied on multiple occasions but on the foreign land. Now, for the first time ever it has been spied testing in India. The test mule of the 7-Seater Creta was snapped by a YouTuber in the National Capital Region of India. As you can see in the above picture, the rider is riding a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R and it crosses the heavily camouflaged SUV. This camouflaged test mule is of the Creta 7-Seater and the rider passes-by it in just a few seconds.

The 7-Seater Hyundai Creta will get a minor nip and tuck to differentiate it from the regular model. It looks almost identical to its 5-Seater sibling from the front, barring a revised grille and inclusion of front parking sensors. The side profile of the car also looks almost identical but it will be around 30 mm longer and a tad taller than the standard Creta. It will get usable roof-rails unlike the flush-fitting ones on its 5-Seater sibling. The SUV will feature rear quarter-glasses too for the third-row passengers. The 7-Seater Creta will also get a longer wheelbase to accommodate three rows of seats.

If we talking about powertrain options, as of now there is no confirmation about it. However, we believe that the India-spec model will borrow the engines from the regular Creta. So, this means that it will get a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine with 106 PS and 142 Nm, a more powerful 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 140 PS of power and 242 Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre oil-burner too. This 1.5-litre diesel engine churns out 115 PS and 250 Nm. Talking about transmission options, the 1.5-litre gasoline will be mated to a 6-speed manual and a CVT, the 1.5-litre oil-burner will be coupled to a 6-speed manual and a torque-converter AT while 1.4-litre turbo-petrol motor will be mated to a 7-speed DCT.

It is expected to hit the Indian showrooms by the end of 2021 and once launched, it will rival the likes of MG Hector Plus, Tata Gravitas, Mahindra XUV 500, etc. The current 5-Seater Hyundai Creta is priced between Rs. 9.99 lakhs - Rs. 17.20 lakhs and we expect that the 7-Seater model will be priced in the range of Rs. 14 lakhs - Rs. 20 lakhs.
