2020 Mahindra Thar Price Starts at Rs 9.80 Lakhs - Most Affordable 4X4 SUV in India

Mahindra recently unveiled the all-new Thar. The new generation Thar was unveiled this Independence day and it made everyone say wow! The new Thar is leaps and bounds better than its predecessor. It possesses an oomph factor and even surpassed everyone's expectations. Now, the company has today finally launched the new Mahindra Thar on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti as well as Mahindra's foundation day. The price of the new 2020 Mahindra Thar starts at just Rs. 9.80 lakhs, Ex-showroom pan-India. The new Thar is currently the most affordable 4X4 SUV in India.

The new 2020 Mahindra Thar is available in two variants - AX and LX. The base AX variant gets a soft-top roof, 16-inch steel wheels, side-facing jump seats at the back and more. The LX variant, on the other hand, gets a hard-top or a convertible soft-top option for the roof. It also gets front-facing seats for the second row and is loaded with all the creature comfort features. Both the variants of the new Thar get a lot of features as standard. But, the AX variant lacks creature comforts and it is the LX which is loaded with all the bells and the whistles. Mahindra is also offering an AX optional pack so that one can add some more features on the base model of the SUV.

Talking about the powertrain options that are available with the all-new Thar. So, the new 2020 Mahindra Thar gets BS6-compliant petrol as well as an oil-burner. It gets a 2.0-litre mStallion T-GDI petrol engine that churns out 152 PS of power at 5000 RPM and 320 Nm peak torque between 1500-3000 RPM. It also gets a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that churns out 132 PS of power at 3750 RPM and 300 Nm of peak torque between 1600-2800 RPM. Both the engines are mated to a 6-speed manual as well as a 6-speed torque-converter automatic transmission with 4X4 system as standard.

The new Mahindra Thar measures 3985 mm in length, 1820 mm in width and 1920 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2450 mm and the ground clearance stands at 219 mm. Talking about some features, so the new Thar gets TFT multi-information display and a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and off-road statistics. The safety features of the new-gen Thar include dual front airbags, ABS and EBD with Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with Roll-over Mitigation, roll cage, etc. The LX variant also gets a Brake Locking Differential.

Finally, talking about the price, so the price of the new 2020 Mahindra Thar starts at Rs. 9.80 lakhs and it goes all the way up to Rs. 13.75 lakhs. All prices are applicable for Ex-showroom pan-India. The bookings for the new Thar are now open and the deliveries will also commence soon. It directly rivals against the upcoming Force Gurkha BS6.
