Compact SUVs are climbing up the ladder in sales and every carmaker wants a fair piece of this segment. We saw the trend with the Ecosport then Maruti Brezza and so on. The recent carmaker to enter this segment in 2020 is Nissan with their upcoming Magnite and from their recent TVC, we can also confirm that a turbo petrol engine will also be on the offer.

Sharing details about the engine first then via this TVC, one thing is confirmed that the 2020 Nissan Magnite will come with a turbo petrol engine. A naturally aspirated unit will be reserved for the lower variants to keep the costs low while this turbo unit for mid-spec and high variants.

This turbo petrol unit manages to deliver higher torque at lower speed and its fuel efficiency is rated at 20 km/l which is good for the Indian market. Also, this three-cylinder turbo is expected to make 100 PS with a peak torque of 160 Nm. It will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and an optional first-in-class CVT gearbox.
The TVS showcases the supreme styling of the Magnite with its larger mesh grille with chrome outlines. The LED headlights followed by the L-shaped DRLs just below them. To enhance the look, it also receives a faux skid plate at both front and rear bumper. It brings out a sportiness to the SUV.
The tagline says Ignite Your Carisma and the Magnite adapts to this amazingly well. The SUV will be available with 9 colour options - 5 monotone and 4 dual-tone schemes. Thus one gets 205 mm of ground clearance and the roof rails can carry up to 50kg of the load. The top-spec models will receive 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels once the SUV gets launched.

The interior receives an all-black theme with features like engine start/stop, larger touchscreen infotainment unit with modern connectivity features like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also gets Bluetooth connectivity and it also gets a multi-function steering wheel, digital instrument cluster and more.
The AC vents, door handles, steering wheel, gear knob all receive outlines of silver finish. Nissan claims that the rear seats are comfortable for long journeys and it also gets rear AC vents as a convenience feature. Other features like TPMS, around view monitor, cruise control, rear-seat armrest with 2 cupholders and mobile holder, 10L glove box and among others.
Nissan recently showcased the SUV and it is expected that the carmaker will launch the Magnite during the festive season. As of now, the expected price is between Rs 5.50 lakh to Rs 7.89 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. It will rival with the likes of Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford Ecosport and Mahindra XUV300.
