2022 Honda Civic Takes Shape - Design, Engine Specs And Features

With the rise in the SUV department in the country, we have forgotten the sedans once in for all. Such that the D-segment sedan segment which was once popular, now only gets one option and that is the Hyundai Elantra. Honda Civic was discontinued because of the poor sales the now the 2022 version was recently showcased at the North American market. What it is all about? Let's know it all here!

2022 Honda Civic Engine

Under the hood, the new Civic packs in two petrol engine on offer as far. A 2.0-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol unit and a more powerful 1.5L turbo petrol engine. The former generates 159 bhp with 182 Nm of peak torque while the turbo unit churns out 181 bhp with 240 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines get CVT as a standard fitment and more details on other powertrain options will emerge soon once the Euro-spec model gets out.

The executive sedan in its 11th generation cuts out the drama and adds sophistication to its styling. Yes, there are sharp cuts and creases but then that has been limited and the Civic continues its glory with the low ground clearance.

Additionally, the wheelbase of the new Civic is increased by 36 mm which gives it a better cabin experience. At the front, sharper LED headlights followed by a rectangular foglight design that gets C-shaped black surrounds.

Moving towards the side profile then it retains the old school sedan look rather than the coupe-like roofline which was present in the earlier generation. The length of the car has also been increased by 33 mm. The rear gets Toyota Yaris styled tail lights, integrated spoiler at the bootlid and chrome top exhaust as seen in the pictures. Honda Civic is expected to get 17 or 18-inch alloy wheels.

2022 Honda Civic Interiors and Features

Unlike the exterior design which gets a subtle old school charm, the interiors have been tucked with technology laid features along with a sense of premiumness. The all-black theme with honeycomb styled AC vents and a floating touchscreen infotainment unit speaks up the design language to an extent.

Leather treatment on the door panels, steering wheel, seats, gear lever and more places are observed. One gets an analogue instrument cluster with a 7.0-inch MID or a 10.2-inch LCD, depending on which variant they choose. Similarly, the floating touchscreen unit gets 7.0-inch and 9.0-inch variant depending upon the variants. We expect a dual-zone climate control to come with the Civic.

Safety features on this one include multiple airbags, traction control, hill assist, lane-keeping assist system, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist and many more.

It remains to be seen if the new Honda Civic will come to the Indian market or not. The first time Honda made its entry with the Civic, it was a hit because of its futuristic looks, however, the 10th generation could not make up much for it. It was discontinued owing to poor sales. Will Honda consider bringing this newer generation to the market? Only time will tell us.
