2022 TVS Fiero 125 Trademark Accepted!

The hottest selling two-wheelers in India mainly belong to the 125cc engine family. This segment is well known for its practicality, performance as per the price and Value-For-Money quotient. With the TVS Raider as a 125cc bike already on offer, TVS plans to give it a sibling, as was confirmed by the trademarks filed for a bike equipped with a 125cc engine with a name from the past. If you are a kid from the late '90s or early 2000s, you must have surely heard of the 'Fiero'. The trademark for the 2022 TVS Fiero 125 has officially been accepted.

The Fiero, launched in 2000, had a cult of its own wherein it was launched under the Joint Venture of Suzuki and TVS until the brands parted ways in 2001 and it was officially sold as the TVS Fiero. It was known for its wrap-around head lamps and tail lamps which made it look unique. As seen in the picture of a 2000-2001 Fiero, it born the TVS badge above its headlights in the front and the Suzuki badge on the fuel tank.

Having well-established rivals with high sales figures like the Hero Super Splendor, Hero Glamour, Bajaj Pulsar 125 and Honda CB Shine, it might be a comparatively difficult entry into this segment. However, TVS hasn't given any official statements regarding the launch or technical specifications of the Fiero. As per the sales figures, TVS hasn't found the 125cc segment in bikes to be lucky enough. The TVS Flame 125 released in late 2007 turned out to be a substantial disappointment for the brand but has still kicked into this segment a few months back with the launch of the TVS Raider 125.

The TVS Raider seems to have picked up really smooth with a linear response from the market. They managed to fetch a decent sales volume of 10k units per month, with total sales crossing the 1.5 lakh mark within three months of the release of the TVS Raider 125. TVS is expected to introduce the Fiero in the 125cc lineup to maintain its hold in this segment, with multiple options on offer from its portfolio. A similar strategy is followed by Bajaj, with many of its offerings being similar in terms of the powertrain but following a staggered approach in terms of looks, appeal, features and the overall silhouette of its bikes.

The 2022 TVS Fiero 125 is likely to be based on the TVS Raider with different styling and features. With the revival of a product from the past, the Fiero is expected to be styled and marketed as a retro roadster with multiple similarities from the Fiero FX, which was released as one of the cosmetic facelift versions of this bike with round headlamps and rear view mirrors. The Fiero 2022 seems to take over the likes of the people who prioritise and feel the aesthetics of their ride. As per the spy shots, it seems to have a single rear fender and features non-functional air scoops on a quirkily designed fuel tank.

The new TVS Fiero is likely to share its powertrain with the sibling, TVS Raiderwill, which is equipped with a 124.8cc single cylinder, air cooled engine coupled with a 5-speed transmission, which putting out 11.2 bhp at 7500 rpm and 11.2 N-m of peak torque at 6000 rpm.
