2023 Honda City Facelift Launched At Rs.11.49 Lakh; ADAS And More
  • New Obsidian Blue color introduced
  • New variants inducted as well with ADAS functionality and more
  • Prices start from Rs. 11.59 lakh

After much speculation and shots leaked, the 2023 Honda City is finally launched and gives some much-needed upgrades. The latest update and with this launch, the sedan space is again hot with the carmakers shifting their focus to segment domination. Some upgrades and a few things from the previous generation. The price of the new City starts at Rs.11.49 to 15.97 lakh ex-showroom for the petrol variant. The hybrid e:HEV variant ranges from 18.89 to 20.39 lakh.

Let's look at the highlights of all the things that the new Honda City 2023 brings.

Design Updates- Subtle This Time

The new Honda City is Well!, very much Honda City. You can just immediately recognize that this is the car. But even when the front remains largely the same, it has some distinct elements. It now sports a new slimmer chrome grill with black honeycomb inserts. The fog lamp assembly is redesigned and the air intakes are also refreshed.

Other than this, no cosmetic changes have been made as the nine-array LED headlamps, bonnet, side profile, alloy wheels, tail lamps, etc have been carried over. A new Obsidian blue exterior shade has been added to the lineup and the existing colors such as Radiant Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Golden Brown Metallic, and Meteoroid Grey Metallic have been retained.

The top-spec City hybrid and also the petrol variant is now equipped with the ADAS suite. This has been the much talked about feature since its inception in relatably affordable cars. And with the Hyundai Verna slated for launch on 21 March coming with ADAS, the City just makes its competition fairly tight.

Additionally to this, it now also gets a new 16-inch alloy design with a 15-inch on some lower variants as well. Apart from this, nothing much changes on the inside, you get the same 8-inch infotainment screen, automatic climate control, sunroof, and electrically foldable ORVMs. It was never low on features as to say.

Powertrain: Diesel Bids Adieu, New Variants Introduced

With the new Honda City, Diesel finally says goodbye. It is now a thing of the past, and if you want a diesel Honda City, you should find a leftover previous generation model, and straight away take it home. Also, you might just be able to score a good discount deal as well.

Now, time for these new variants. A new entry-level petrol variant known as SV has been included and it will be sold only with a manual gearbox. It will be accompanied by V, VX, and ZX. The 1.5-liter petrol engine producing 121 hp and the 1.5-litre Atkinson Cycle strong hybrid engine capable of 126 hp will be RDE compliant. The e: HEV has a claimed mileage of 26.5 kmpl and the regular petrol has it at 18.4 kmpl.

V MT PetrolRs 12.37 lakh
V CVT PetrolRs 13.62 lakh
VX MT PetrolRs 13.49 lakh
VX CVT PetrolRs 14.74 lakh
ZX MT PetrolRs 14.72 lakh
ZX CVT PetrolRs 15.97 lakh
V e-CVT HybridRs 18.89 lakh
ZX e-CVT HybridRs 20.39 lakh

VERDICT - Even though the Diesel has been axed, the new City brings some really needed updates. Firstly, the ADAS induction is a nice upgrade, though not very crucial. For some, it won't even matter. From the features on the inside, they are pretty useful. It now gets ADAS and also Wireless Android Auto/ Apple CarPlay, and a refreshed front appeal. This makes the new City a much stronger package than before.

But it will now face tough competition from the like of Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia, Hyundai Verna, and the aging but more affordable Maruti Ciaz.
