Explained - 10 ADAS Features Introduced In 2023 Tata Safari And Harrier

What was considered an offering of the premium segment, the ADAS( Automated Driver's Assistance System), is now gradually positioning itself in the lower segments as well. While the Mahindra XUV700 pioneered this inclusion, others followed suit like the 2023 MG Hector. Now in 2023, finally, the new Tata Safari and Harrier have jumped onto the trend. They are now equipped with ADAS in 2023.

So, what are the 10 features that Tata Safari and the Harrier offer? Let us have a quick look.

Forward Collision Warning

The forward collision warning system uses the sensors placed at the front of the vehicle. It senses the presence of an object in front and alerts about a possible crash. Well, how does it assess the situation? It calculates the distance between vehicles and the speed with acceleration and decides if an alert should be sent.

Rear Collision Warning

It is like the forward collision warning system but at the rear end of the vehicle if the speed of the approach from the rear is alarming.

Autonomous Emergency Braking

This is an advanced action stage of the forward collision warning system. It alerts the driver about the obstructions ahead on the road, be it a vehicle or pedestrian. In case it senses the crash is inevitable in the current operating condition of the vehicle, it applies the brakes and completely stops the vehicle.

Lane Departure Warning

A lane departure warning system alerts drivers when their vehicle drifts out of its lane without a turn signal. It uses cameras or sensors to detect lane markings, which should be clearly visible and provide an audible, visual, or haptic warning.

High Beam Assist

This is one handy feature when you're out on the road. It detects the oncoming vehicles from the opposite side and automatically switches to a low beam to save the other driver from blinding. Once the vehicle passes, it shifts back to the high beam by itself. Pretty Cool Right?

Lane Change Alert

Lane markings should be there. It alerts the driver about incoming vehicles when you're changing lanes.

Traffic Sign Recognition

The sensors at the front detect the traffic signs like speed limits and display them on your instrument cluster so that you can adjust them accordingly.

Blind Spot Detection

This is an audio and visual warning appearing on the ORVM of the Tata Safari and Harrier. It alerts about incoming vehicles from the blind spots of the driver.

Door Open Alert

When you're getting off the vehicle, it alerts you if there is any vehicle coming that might hit the door of the car. It is a pretty useful addition to have for safer ingress-egress.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert

This is a park assist feature in the sense that it lets you know if any vehicle is moving out from its spot. The camera shows you the rear, while the sensors provide additional information about the surroundings.
