1. Design Gets A Fresh Tweak

The 2025 Kawasaki Versy X 300 continues to embrace its adventure-touring DNA with a tall, purposeful stance, complete with a windscreen, semi-fairing, and a signature upswept exhaust. Passenger comfort is also well addressed with a wide pillion seat and ergonomic grab handles. Touring readiness is further enhanced by a sturdy rear carrier and integrated hooks for easy luggage mounting. To keep things cool on extended rides, Kawasaki's patented fan shroud helps redirect engine heat away from the rider, ensuring better comfort in varied riding conditions. Kawasaki says the updated Versys-X 300 brings a more inclusive design approach, with well-balanced ergonomics and components that cater to both everyday usability and weekend escapades, making it a versatile option in the entry-level ADV segment.

2. Engine: Ninja 300 On The Inside

At the heart of the 2025 Kawasaki Versys-X 300 lies a 296cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, the same proven motor that powers the Ninja 300. Now updated to meet OBD-2B emission norms, this high-revving twin produces 40PS at 11,500 rpm and 25.7Nm of torque at 10,000 rpm. The engine is paired with a slick six-speed gearbox and comes equipped with a slipper clutch, making for smoother downshifts and better control, especially useful during spirited riding or touring through twisty terrain.

3. Hardware: Balanced For Adventure & Everyday Usability

The 2025 Kawasaki Versys X 300 rolls on wire-spoked wheels, 19 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear, shod with tubed tyres, which may be a drawback for some compared to the tubeless setups offered by rivals. Built on a robust backbone frame, the bike features a 41mm telescopic front fork with 130mm of travel and a rear monoshock offering 148mm of travel, making it well-suited for mixed-terrain rides. It tips the scales at 184kg (kerb), offers a generous 180mm of ground clearance, and has a seat height of 815mm, which is accessible for most riders. A 17-litre fuel tank aids long-distance touring, while braking duties are handled by petal disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS as standard, making it a fairly well-equipped bike.

4. Features: Nothing Fancy But Functional

The Versys X 300 comes equipped with a semi-digital instrument cluster that combines an analogue tachometer with a gear position indicator and a multi-function LCD display. While it lacks smartphone connectivity and built-in navigation, it still delivers all the essential ride data clearly, while the lighting system sticks to halogen bulbs across the board. Although this could have utilised an LED set-up, what's to complain when it's the most affordable Versys that has returned home after a long vacation. Let's expect it to be added with subsequent updates in the coming future.

5. Price And Rivals

Priced at Rs 3.80 lakh (ex-showroom), the Kawasaki Versys X 300 goes up against notable rivals like the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM 390 Adventure in the entry-level adventure touring segment. Notably, this is more affordable than the last time it was here.

Verdict

Interestingly, this isn't the bike's first stint in India and Kawasaki had introduced the Versys X 300 here a few years ago, but it was eventually phased out from the lineup. Its return marks a renewed push in the growing adventure touring space, offering a refined twin-cylinder alternative for riders seeking something other than what is there on the marker currently. However, this will haunt KTM even more with a competitive price tag where the adventure segment might witness a new leader.
