For the first time, the Lexus ES will be available in a fully-electric guise, and although the battery capacity has not been revealed, the car maker has confirmed a few specifications. The fully-electric ES will be offered in two different trims; first is the ES 350e comes with a single front-axle motor setup and it produces 221bhp. The ES 500e is the other variant, with a dual-motor, all-wheel drive setup, which produces 337bhp.

Meanwhile, the ES 300h and ES 350h continue with their 2.5-litre, nat-asp petrol engine, paired to a strong hybrid setup. Built on a redesigned K-platform, the ES has grown in terms of dimensions, with an increase of 165mm in overall length, while the wheelbase has gone up by 80mm, and it now stands at 2950mm. The front and rear tracks have become wider as well, and Lexus also says it has also improved the rear legroom and seating position.

The design of the new ES follows a sharp and futuristic theme, with elements inspired from various Lexus concept car. The silhouette is rather sharp and follows a very sportback-like theme, similar to something like an Audi RS5 Sportback. The grille features the typical Lexus spindle treatment, while the headlamps feature L-shaped DRL elements and turn-indicators on top. Lexus says this will become its new design icon for the electrification era.

The rear of the ES is also rather sleek and stylish, featuring a slim, full-length light bar, while the L-shaped tail lights are placed lower and outwards on the bumper, giving it a futuristic look.

While the exteriors are rather dynamic and sharp, the interiors are the exact opposite, with a clean and minimalistic look. The upper section of the dashboard has been cleared out, while a larger 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system takes centre stage, taking in a lot of controls and resulting in a clean, button-free look. Lexus has added in an ADAS suite, and there will be many more features on offer, but it remains to be seen which ones will be available when it comes to India.
