While the car maker has been updating its range of cars, there are still a few cars that do not receive 6 airbags as standard across the range. These cars include the S-Presso, the Ignis, Ertiga, XL6, Baleno, and the Fronx. However, the Baleno and Fronx offer curtain airbags and side airbags in the higher variants.

According to reports, the car maker has said that an increased focus on safety comes with increasd prices which affects the sales of its cars. This is further being backed up by a decline of 9 per cent in the entry-level segment. However, despite this, the car maker has been making an effort to develop safer cars. Tbe Dzire, for example, has become the first Maruti Suzuki car to come with a 5-star safety rating.

The Alto, Ignis, and the S-Presso have not received good safety ratings at the GNCAP, and while the Alto has been updated to get 6 airbags, the other two cars are still left, and it remains to be seen how they perform in terms of safety with the addition of six airbags.

Verdict

With safety becoming an increasingly important criteria for buyers, Maruti Suzuki is also getting serious about providing safer rated cars, while also adding safety equipmemt as well. With an increase in prices expected, it remains to be seen how its cars perform in terms of sales.
