Electrified Power with Impressive Range

At the core of these new plug-in hybrid variants lies a highly efficient 2.0-litre TFSI turbo-petrol engine paired with an electric motor and an advanced dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Two performance tunes are available globally: a 295 bhp version and a more powerful 362 bhp trim. Both versions benefit from Audi's quattro all-wheel-drive tech and promise sporty acceleration, with 0-100 kmph timings of 6.2 and 5.1 seconds respectively.

What truly elevates the plug-in experience is the upgraded battery pack. With a 25.9 kWh gross capacity (20.7 kWh net usable), the Q5 PHEVs claim up to 100 km of electric-only range (WLTP) - a figure that makes them exceptionally capable for zero-emission city commutes.

Smart Hybrid System with Custom Drive Modes

Audi Q5 and Q5 Sportback

The hybrids come equipped with multiple drive modes, giving users full control over how they consume power. In full EV mode, the SUVs run solely on electric power. Hybrid mode blends engine and electric motor usage for optimized efficiency, while a manual battery reserve setting allows the driver to save electric range for later use. Additionally, regenerative braking can be fine-tuned across three levels, using paddle shifters for an intuitive energy recapture experience.

Tech-Savvy Cabin with Premium Features

Audi Q5 and Q5 Sportback

Inside, the plug-in Q5 and Sportback variants continue Audi's reputation for luxury and connectivity. Standard features include tri-zone automatic climate control, Audi's latest MMI infotainment suite with app store access, and high-quality materials throughout. The sportier 362 bhp trims get a visual upgrade with S line interiors, red brake calipers, LED lighting packages, and a sliding rear bench to enhance practicality.

Global Availability and Production Details

In terms of pricing, the base 295 bhp Q5 PHEV starts at Euro 63,400, while the Sportback counterpart is priced at Euro 65,900. The more powerful variants begin at Euro 71,800 for the SUV and Euro 74,300 for the Sportback.

India Launch Details

Although Audi India hasn't made an official statement yet, the growing appetite for premium hybrid and electric vehicles in the country makes a strong case for the Q5 PHEV's local introduction. Audi already offers the standard petrol-powered Q5 here, and the plug-in version could be a logical extension, especially as the government continues to push for cleaner mobility solutions.
