Bajaj Avenger is a very popular cruiser motorcycle in the Indian market. The Avenger was first launched in the year 2005 and it is the first cruiser motorcycle to be developed by an Indian company. Over the years, the Avenger has got several minor updates. However, it got a major update in 2015 and then in 2017. Earlier, the Avenger was available with a 180cc and a 220cc engine, but now this cruiser motorcycle gets a 160cc and a 220cc mill. The Avenger has been always a good-selling motorcycle. Styling and Big-Bike Feel

The Bajaj Avenger is a handsome looking motorcycle. It has a macho appeal as well as retro charm. The Avenger is sold in two avatar - Cruise and Street. The new Avenger 220 Cruise gets a lot of chrome accents, a tall windscreen, cushioned backrest, etc. The Avenger 160 Street, on the other hand, sports aluminium inserts and blacked-out treatment. However, what's cool is that both these motorcycles give you a big-bike feel, a feeling of riding a cruiser motorcycle with a higher displacement engine. Also, they have a high-raised handlebar, forward-set footpegs and a comfy seat for better highway duties.

Multiple Powertrain Options

As already mentioned before, the Avenger is sold in two avatar - Street and Cruise. We have the Avenger 160 Street and the Avenger 220 Cruise and the buyers can choose as per their requirement, budget or the looks of the motorcycle. The new Avenger 160 Street gets a 160cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected DTS-i engine that churns out 15 PS of power at 8500 RPM and 13.7 Nm of torque at 7000 RPM. Whereas, the new Avenger 220 Cruise gets a 220cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled, fuel-injected DTS-i engine that churns out 19.03 PS of power at 8500 RPM and 17.55 Nm of torque at 7000 RPM. Both the mills are BS6-compliant and come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Comfort and Features

Being a cruiser motorcycle, the Avenger 160 Street and the Avenger 220 Cruise are very comfortable and easy to ride. These motorcycles get a well-cushioned single-piece seat. The Avenger 220 Cruise even gets a cushioned backrest for better comfort of the pillion. The suspension duties on these motorcycles are performed by telescopic forks at the front and hydraulic type 5-step adjustable twin shock-absorbers at the rear. For braking duties, they get disc brake at the front and a drum unit at the rear. They also get a single-channel ABS or an anti-lock braking system as standard.

As you have read in the title of this article, the BS6-compliant Avengers are the most affordable cruiser motorcycles in the Indian market. The Bajaj Avenger 160 Street BS6 is priced at Rs. 1.01 lakhs while the Avenger 220 Cruise BS6 retails at Rs. 1.22 lakhs. All prices stick to Ex-showroom Delhi.
