BS3 Petrol & BS4 Diesel Vehicle Ban Details

Speaking of the ban, it came into effect nearly one week ago. After multiple attempts to control the increased air pollution; the Delhi government imposed this ban. The ban was on BS3 petrol & BS4 diesel vehicles. As per the government, most of these vehicles are already nearing their fitness limit. However, with the registration certificates still, valid ones can not be stopped. Hence, the imposing of a ban became a mandate for these vehicles. Meanwhile, BS6 vehicles produce much less air pollution. Hence, no ban on these vehicles has been imposed.

As per the officials, the ban was destined until November 13. However, the upliftment of the ban is temporary. This is because another major meeting is underway today. This meeting will decide whether the ban should be continued or not. Meanwhile, it is still unclear whether this ban has actually helped in cutting air pollution or not. However, the AQI has come down as the pollution is slowly coming to its limits again. The down growth of AQI has begun for the past 4 days. If this continues similarly, the ban shall be shunted until the next pollution attack.

Verdict

The ban on old vehicles in Delhi-NCR has been a highly debatable topic. While some are in favor of it as it helps curb pollution; many are against too. Meanwhile, the government is implying new ways to control the ever-increasing AQI around the national capital. However, some products like the KIA Seltos & Hyundai Creta come with air purifiers which do come in handy in such tough situations.
