Citroen India has officially revealed the design of its upcoming coupe SUV, the Citroen Basalt, ahead of its official launch. The upcoming Citroen Basalt will be the 5th vehicle in Citroen India's lineup. The Basalt is based on the same platform as the C3 & C3 Aircross and boasts some design similarities as well. Citroen Basalt - Design Elements
The upcoming Basalt will enter competition with the Tata Curvv and both SUVs will compete in the new Coupe SUV segment. The Citroen Basalt is based on the same platform as existing Citroen C3 and C3 Aircross SUVs.
The front profile of the Basalt will boast an X-shaped LED DRL and LED-Vision projector headlamp. The SUV will get a clamshell bonnet offering a muscular front profile, and the center of the front grille gets the Citroen logo connected with the lights by chrome inserts and gloss black treatment.
Also, the lower area of the front will get air intake grilles and silver skid plates.
The side profile gets a coupe styling and a new design for the alloy wheels. The SUV gets strong fender lines, plastic cladding, and wheel arches enhancing the side profile of the SUV. Moving to the rear, the Basalt gets Citroen's signature light element with a wraparound taillamp with 3 light stripes elements. The rear bumper also gets faux silver skid plates.
According to Pierre Leclercq, Head of Citro뮠Design, The New Citroen BASALT is a new type of silhouette, complementing C3 and C3 Aircross in India. It brings together the best of two worlds: the robustness and versatility of a SUV, the roominess and efficiency of a Coup鮠The proportions of BASALT mix the strength of SUV codes, with its fenders and claddings, while its fastback silhouette brings out the elegance of a Coup鮠The falling roofline is also a nod to iconic models, such as the CX (1974) and more recently, the popular C4.

Verdict
The Citroen Basalt is expected to be launched in the coming month, the brand has official revealed the exterior but the interior of the SUV is still under wraps. On the inside, it will get the same touchscreen as the C3 Aircross and same instrument cluster. Additionally, it will boast automatic climate control, wireless charging among other features. The Citroen Basalt will compete with upcoming Tata Cruvv Coupe SUV.
