The EV segment in India has now received a new addition as the Pune-based Indian manufacturer EKA has revealed their first product. EKA E9 electric bus has been revealed officially and the company claims it to be a path-breaker for the commercial EV segment in India.

The ever-growing segment of commercial EVs seems to behold a bright future as more and more new manufacturers are coming up with their new innovatively designed products. One such product is the newly revealed E9 e-bus from EKA which has been showcased to the global media recently.

Talking about the first product from EKA, the new E9 e-bus deems to be a path-breaker via its lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TOC) as compared to the ICE-powered buses; as claimed by the company during the official reveal. The overall design of the bus is very subtle with large window panes for an airy cabin feel and a panoramic view to passengers. Talking of the design innovation, E9 has been thoughtfully anticipated keeping in mind the comfort of the everyday passengers. The e-bus features a streamlined design with futuristic elements to make it look apart from the standard ICE buses.

EKA has kept the width at 2.5 mt and length at 9 mt which provides ample space for 31+Driver seating capacity along with wheelchair ramp and occupancy. The lowest 650 mm of floor height provides ample of space and ergonomic ease for all-type of passengers (young, aged, and differently-abled as well).
On the feature-front, the E9 e-bus has been fixed with both front and rear air suspensions, enhanced driver ergonomics for ease of driving long hours, auto-drive feature, ADAS (Automated Driver Assistance System), emergency stop feature, fire extinguishers, tilt and telescopic adjustable steering column for the driver with a single large semi-digital MID for the driver. Other than this, EKA has equipped the E9 with rust-free composite body panels, front and rear disc brakes with a brake energy regeneration system embedded inside them, and 4-cameras for an all-around view to the driver, CCS2 protocol fast charger as well.

As the main goal was to beat the conventional ICE buses via low cost of ownership and also to provide more power; EKA has used a bigger battery which is capable of producing a peak power of 268 hp and a peak torque of 2500 Nm. This mammoth-like torque is instantly delivered as this is an e-bus just to remind you. No loss occurrence in power and instant torque of EV will result in better drivability around the cities while producing zero emissions. EKA claims that their bus is capable of providing 17% gradeability so that the bus can tackle any terrain in any situation with ease. The low center of gravity also helps the E9 bus to become more sorted behind the steering wheel for better safety of the passengers as well as the driver.
The price is still not confirmed as this was an official reveal only. When the E9 launches officially it is set to take on the market with storm as anticipated by the EKA itself.
