Ford has finally launched the 2021 Figo Automatic and it costs Rs 7.75 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. But is it a worthy buy at all? Well, to know if it is still a value for money hatchback, we pitch the 2021 Ford Figo Automatic vs Maruti Swift AMT. In this detailed comparison, we pitch both the hatchbacks and share their design, features, engine, price and more.
Let's start with what these hot hatchbacks offer -
|Engine||Ford Figo Automatic||Maruti Swift AMT|
|Power (bhp)||95 bhp||89 bhp|
|Torque (Nm)||119 Nm||113 Nm|
|Gearbox||6-speed torque converter||5-speed AMT|
|ARAI||16 kmpl||23.76 kmpl|
Clearly, the Figo automatic wins here when compared with Swift AMT. The 1.2L petrol unit of Figo churns out 95 bhp at 6500 RPM with a peak torque of 119 Nm at 4250 RPM. Furthermore, when paired with a 6-speed AT, we believe that the shifts will be smoother and jerk-free, unlike the Swift AMT.
On the other hand, Maruti Swift uses the updated 1.2L DualJet motor. This is the same four-cylinder BS6 unit as seen on the Baleno and Dzire. It generates 89 bhp at 6000 RPM with a peak torque of 113 Nm at 4400 RPM. The ARAI mileage of the AMT Swift sticks to 23.76 kmpl and it is better than the Figo Automatic that delivers only 16 kmpl.
If you are looking for a performance-driven hatchback with a peppy engine and a smooth automatic gearbox then Figo will be the right choice for you. However, if you drive in city traffic, occasional weekend tours with family and friends then look no further than the Maruti Swift AMT between these two.

Sharing details on the recently launched Figo Automatic then it retains its agile styling like before but the carmaker has brought in the new 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels to jazz it up a little. This is the same alloy wheels pattern that will be brought in the Aspire as well. Rest, all bits like chrome inserts on the mesh grille and on the fog light housing remains. Although, Ford could have brought in the projector headlight setup for the top-spec variant. Overall, the Figo retains a simpler design and it isn't as appealing as its rival, Maruti Swift.
Maruti Swift has a unique approach with its design, be it the kids or the adults, this hatchback attracts them all. In the newer version of Swift, you get a tweaked grille design with a chrome strip that runs from one corner to another. One addition that the Swift gets over Figo is the dual-tone colour options. This makes the Swift likeable.
