Hero Mavrick 440: Pros and Cons of HD X440 Replica Explained

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Pros: Impressive low-end torque, satisfying braking capabilities, comfortable ride.
  • Cons: Power limitations at high speeds, lacks advanced features.
  • High-speed handling: Struggles and feels unstable at triple-digit speeds.

Hero Mavrick 440 was the first output of collaboration between Hero Moto Corp and the American motorcycle manufacturer, Harley Davidson. The Hero Mavrick 440 shares most of its features and mechanical elements with the HD X440.

While the HD X440 was not a great success for Harley Davidson in India, Hero planned to make an affordable alternative of the same and definitely, and the Mavrick 440 is one of the most competitive and value-for-money motorcycles in the 300-440cc segment in India.

Coming straight to the point, if you have Hero Mavrick 440 in your mind as a choice, this article is for you. Here, we will list all the pros and cons of the Hero Mavrick 440. We hope you will have a clear buying decision after reading this article.

Hero Mavrick 440 Engine

Hero Mavrick 440 gets the same powerhouse as the Harley Davidson X440. This powerhouse generates a maximum power of 27 bhp @ 6000 rpm and a peak torque of 36 Nm @4000 rpm. The torque figure is lower by 2 Nm on Mavrick when compared to the HD 440.

Hero Mavrick 440 Pros

Impressive Low-End Torque

Despite being an affordable alternative, the Hero Mavrick comes with impressive low-end torque and this is the standout trait of this motorcycle. According to the manufacturer, the riders can get up to 90 percent of torque at just 2000 rpm. With the Mavrick 440, you can feel the vibe of that sudden take-off that every Moto enthusiast wants.

Braking Capabilities

Talking about the technicalities, the Mavrick 440 comes equipped with a 320 mm disc brake (front) and a 240 mm disc (rear). The motorcycle gets features such as dual channel ABS as standard. The braking experience is satisfying and confidence-inspiring and it feels when you cruise at high speed and need sudden braking.

Suspension and Handling Experience

However, this motorcycle lacks any high-end tech, which is also not expected in this segment. But when it comes to ride comfort, this beast leaves behind most of its rivals by providing a cozy and comfortable ride. Hero made this possible by using a 43mm telescopic fork with a non-adjustable 130 mm travel and a 7-step adjustable twin shock.

Excellently Balanced NVH Levels

Another noticeable thing about the Mavrick 440 is its excellently balanced NVH levels despite coming with a single-cylinder engine. You will hardly feel any vibrations and harshness until you cruise at triple digits on your speedometer.

Hero Mavrick 440 Cons

Power Limitations

However, the Mavrick 440 performs well at low revs, but the engine struggles to supply power at high speed. So if you are a performance enthusiast, you can consider other more powerful alternatives instead of the Mavrick 440 such as the Triumph Speed 400 and Royal Enfield Meteor.

Lacks Features

As a rebadged HD 440, the Mavrick 440 lacks some major features such as USD front forks, tech-loaded instrument cluster, traction control, and riding modes. These features are offered in most of its 300-440cc rivals in India. So, a lack of features can disappoint you if you want to buy a tech-loaded motorcycle.

Struggles in High-Speed Handling

Hero Mavrick High-Speed Handling

As mentioned above, the Mavrick 440 provides a smooth and stable ride at cruising speed (80-100 kph). But when it comes to triple-digit speeds, the motorcycle produces more vibrations which makes it quite irritating. This could be considered a major drawback of the Mavrick 440 when compared to its rivals which provide a stable and comfortable ride even at high speeds.

Verdict

In a nutshell, I would say that the Mavrick 440 is a good option for riders who prioritize comfort, affordability, and a smooth ride in city traffic. However, if you are the person who crave high-performance features or tech, you might want to consider other options.
