Honda Elevate

The Elevate will come with a single 1.5-litre NA petrol engine which does the duty in the Honda City. This engine will produce 121 bhp of power and 145 Nm of peak torque. Now, the official fuel economy figures of the upcoming SUV has been revealed. The Elevate will be mated with a 6-speed MT and a 7-speed CVT gearbox. With the MT gearbox the Elevate will produce 15.31 km/l and with the CVT it will deliver 16.92 km/l. These are the claimed figures while the real world figures will vary as per the driving style and conditions.

For Honda India, the Honda Elevate holds significant importance since the brand currently offers only two sedans in its lineup. This SUV will enable the brand to enter the flourishing mid-size SUV segment in the Indian market. To better compete in this segment, Honda has packed the Elevate with a wide array of features.

Regarding the features, the Elevate features a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also includes convenient wireless charging, a 7-inch digital TFT instrument cluster, and advanced Honda Sensing ADAS technology, incorporating lane keep assist, a blind view monitor, and other functionalities. The SUV's safety measures comprise up to 6 airbags, VSM, ABS with EBD, a rear parking camera with sensors, and additional safety elements.

Verdict

The Honda Elevate holds great importance for Honda India, as it will be competing with popular mid-size SUVs in the Indian market such as the Hyundai Creta, KIA Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and others. However, unlike its competitors that offer various powertrain options, including diesel, turbocharged petrol, and CNG, the Elevate will be equipped with a single powertrain. This could potentially make it challenging for Honda to gain a stronger competitive edge in the segment.
