Back in the early 2000s, sedans were a popular choice in the market. To make use of this opportunity, Hyundai launched the Sonata in the country in 2001 and the car soon became an instant hit for the brand. In our today's sequel of Walking Down The Memory Lane, we have Hyundai Sonata Brochure images which were shared with us by Sid.
The Hyundai Sonata came with two engine options - 2.0-L gold and 2.7 V6 engine. The 2.0-L, DOHC, 4-cylinder engine churned out 133.8 PS and 163 Nm of peak torque and came mated to a 5-Speed MT. The other, 2.7-L V6 engine, on the other hand, delivered a peak power output of 166 PS and a maximum torque figure of 225 Nm. This V6 engine came with a 4-Speed H-Matic Auto and is extremely refined and powerful.
The car also came with advanced features such as traction control, ABS, power-assisted brakes, etc. In addition to the powerful engine options, the Hyundai Sonata also came with a well-balanced ride and handling balance. At the front, it came with independent double-wishbone suspensions setup with coil spring and stabilizer bar while at the rear, it had fully independent, multi-link suspension with stabilizer bar.

The Hyundai Sonata came with an extremely comfortable and spacious cabin. The seats were comfortable and supportive. The driver seat had height adjustment in addition to adjustable lumbar support. In terms of practicality as well, the Sonata's cabin scores very high. There were enough storage spaces all across the cabin and large storage space below the driver's armrest. The visibility all around was superior and the dual-tone colour scheme makes the cabin look bright and airy.
The Hyundai Sonata, apart from being comfortable and practical, was also a very safe car. It had advance safety features like ABS, EBD, TC, and Dual Airbags in addition to other safety features such as a reinforced body shell, and collapsible steering wheel.

In terms of the overall design language, the Sonata looked beautiful and elegant. The long length of the vehicle and the overall proportionate silhouette makes it look appealing. The dual headlamp setup and the large chrome grille makes it look bold and appealing. With this being said, it will not be wrong to conclude that the Hyundai Sonata was amongst one of the most beautiful vehicles in the segment back then.
