JSW Motor - Jetour T2

From the teaser, it's clear that the SUV retains the Jetour T2's distinctive upright stance and rugged design language. The front fascia features circular headlamp housings with slim horizontal LED DRLs running through them, along with pixel-style LED fog lamps integrated into a chunky bumper. The squared-off wheel arches, upright bonnet, and boxy proportions give it a strong off-road-inspired presence. However, the India-spec version will carry JSW branding and is expected to feature slight cosmetic tweaks, including redesigned ORVMs.

Under the hood, the India-bound SUV is expected to feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain similar to the international Jetour T2. This setup pairs a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 154hp and 220Nm with a sizeable 26.7kWh battery pack. Depending on the configuration, it can be offered with either a front-wheel-drive layout or a more capable all-wheel-drive system. The global model delivers an impressive electric-only range of up to 139km, which could make it one of the longest-range plug-in hybrid SUVs in its segment if introduced here with similar specifications.

Inside, the SUV is expected to offer a modern and premium cabin experience. The international-spec model comes equipped with a large 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver display, and a chunky multifunction steering wheel. Other highlights include a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, ventilated and powered front seats, automatic climate control, and a 12-speaker Sony sound system. Safety is also expected to be comprehensive, with features such as a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS likely to be offered.
Expected Price
In terms of positioning, JSW Motors is targeting a price bracket between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 30 lakh, which would place it against established midsize and three-row SUVs in India. The official debut is expected around Diwali 2026, although timelines could shift due to regulatory approvals and component sourcing challenges.
Verdict
JSW Motors' upcoming SUV appears to be a strong statement of intent rather than a cautious first step. By choosing a rugged, globally proven platform like the Jetour T2 and pairing it with a modern plug-in hybrid powertrain, the brand is clearly targeting buyers who want something more distinctive than the usual urban SUVs. Its bold design, long electric-only range, and premium feature set could give it a unique positioning in the Rs 15-30 lakh space, especially as electrification gains momentum in India. However, its real success will depend on how well JSW can localise the product, price it competitively, and build customer confidence through a reliable sales and service network.
