Mahindra Alturas G4 Finally Bids Goodbye; XUV700 Is Now The Flagship SUV

• This SUV was loaded with features up to the brim

Mahindra has halted the bookings of their popular SUV, the Alturas G4 and the same has been delisted from their website too. Just recently, the Indian carmaker brought it in a newer variant, 2WD High that was loaded with features up to the brim. It was priced at Rs 30.68 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.

The Alturas G4 is now discontinued in the Indian market and in the meantime, the XUV700 becomes Mahindra's flagship SUV. This 5/7-seater version is also quite popular in the Indian market and commands a waiting period of more than 1 year in some cities.

Sharing more details on the discontinued Alturas G4 then it was a close rival to Skoda Kodiaq, MG Gloster, Toyota Fortuner and Jeep Meridian. Under the hood, it got 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine. This motor produced 178 bhp of power with a peak torque of 420 Nm and got mated to a 7-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

Feature-wise too this SUV was quite good. It got an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, 360-degree camera, rake and reach adjustable steering wheel, electrically adjustable driver seat, power-adjustable outside rear-view mirrors and more.

Safety features on this SUV include nine airbags, front and rear parking sensors, a tyre-pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD, an electronic stability control, traction control, hill hold control, hill descent control, speed sensing door locks and more.

Verdict

The Alturas G4 was quite a competitive SUV when it was launched. Mahindra sold quite a few units before its popularity in the Indian market declined. Ahead of its discontinuation, Mahindra re-launched the SUV in a single top-of-the-line variant, 2WD High. The 4WD was discontinued.
