Mahindra Electric Origin SUVs, BE 6 and XEV 9e, have made EVs cool in India. Even before these two E-SUVs, there were several options to choose from, but the desire to own one has only been generated by these two. That's why, in just 40 days since the deliveries started, 6,300 units have been rolled out. This is a huge achievement for cars which cost around Rs 20 lakh to 30 lakh ex-showroom. Now, let's discuss what Mahindra did, which none of its rivals could. Also, do join the 91Wheels Whatsapp Channel to never miss out on automotive updates.

Striking Looks

On March 20, 2025, deliveries of the BE 6 and XEV 9e began, and by the end of April, 6,300 units had been delivered to their respective owners. This is a massive achievement, especially considering these are electric cars - not ICE vehicles - and EVs are still relatively new to our country, with the infrastructure currently in a development phase. The number one reason behind the success of these EVs is that Mahindra didn't promote them with the usual narrative of environmental protection, long-term savings, or tax benefits - although they offer all of that. Instead, Mahindra focused on building something extraordinary and grand, a vehicle you simply can't take your eyes off. They created a product that not only outperforms its direct rivals but also competes head-to-head with international offerings. In short, Mahindra has built a striking-looking vehicle that elevates your status the moment it's parked outside your home.

This is one of the biggest reasons. Unlike rivals, which put a lot of emphasis on how EVs are good for the environment or the range numbers - this Indian brand marketed these cars around the desirability factor.
Range and Performance
Another reason is, Mahindra is offering two big battery packs, which usually are found in premium German cars, but here, in the price bracket of Rs 20 lakh to Rs 30 lakh, Indians are getting an option to choose between a 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery pack, with a lifetime warranty on batteries. All making colossal power (230+ PS) and sending it all to the rear wheels, not front like every other car. To add more, the range numbers are fantastic - see it for yourself below.

BE 6
Battery Pack | 59 kWh | 79 kWh |
Range (MIDC P1 + P2) | 557 km | 683 km |
XEV 9e
Battery Pack | 59 kWh | 79 kWh |
Range (MIDC P1 + P2) | 542 km | 656 km |
Feature Loaded
Another paramount reason for such handsome sales numbers is the amount of tech these two cars offer. Normal modern-day features like a panoramic sunroof, large screens, and ventilated seats feel dwarfed in front of the features these cars have. For instance, in the XEV 9e, which is selling more out of these two - despite being more expensive - there are 3 screens in the front console, augmented reality, ADAS Level 2, a panoramic glass roof with 16 million hues, and much more. There's no denying the fact that we Indians love features - they play a big part in our car buying decisions, and children love them. So, all these factors come into play, and these two cars are just packed with hundreds of exciting features.

Verdict
6,300 units is just a start. In the coming months, we will see these numbers crossing the 10,000 mark and even more. Plus, one of the most interesting things to note is that - the bigger XEV 9e is selling more than the affordable BE 6. In fact, we at 91Wheels have done an exclusive ownership review, which is a must-watch for any potential new EV owner. That said, this is a great record and it will be broken really soon.
