Mahindra Thar 5 Door Spied Testing: Reveals Fresh Details

The fresh spy shots of Mahindra Thar 5 Door were papped near the ARAI Pune facility with striking not-so-usual purple wrap covering the highly anticipated SUV as if sneakily commanding attention. However, the alloy wheel design has been leaked it is now finished in dual-tine of black and silver, The silhouette exudes a grandeur presence when compared to its 3-door sibling.

Given the already high acclaim for its design, the upcoming 5-door version of the Thar is anticipated to retain much of its iconic appearance. While there won't be significant alterations, minor updates like a slightly revised grille design are expected. Notable features such as the iconic circular headlamps and prominent bumper design will remain consistent with the existing 3-door Thar. The side profile of the 5-door Thar will adopt a similar design ethos. However, the increased length of the 5-door variant will lend it a more commanding presence on the road. The base variant will feature steel wheels, while higher trims will be equipped with alloy wheels. It's worth noting that the design of the alloy wheels will differ between the mid-spec and top-spec variants, as noticed in previous spy shots.

Interior And Features: Modern Updates For Better Experience

The interior of the Thar 5-door, glimpsed in recent spy shots, suggests a notable enhancement in comfort and convenience. It is speculated to feature a spacious 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system akin to the XUV400's, promising seamless entertainment and connectivity. A potential switch to a fully digital instrument cluster, along with additions like dual-zone climate control, a rear center armrest, and a sunroof, could elevate the cabin's premium feel. Moreover, safety upgrades, including 6 airbags, front parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS, are anticipated, likely complemented by all-disc brakes for enhanced safety measures.

Mahindra Thar 5 Door: Powertrain

The Thar 5 Door is set to inherit the 2.2L diesel (130hp, 300Nm) and 2.0L petrol (150hp, 300Nm) engines from its 3-door counterpart, possibly fine-tuned for improved performance and efficiency. Both engine options will offer 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. While it will be available in both rear-wheel drive (RWD) and four-wheel drive (4WD) configurations, the 4WD variant will debut first, as seen with the 3-door version.

While it is expected to debut in August 2024, it will lock horns with the likes of the recently launched Gurkha 5-door and the Maruti Jimny in the adventure SUV segment. The expected pricing will start around Rs. 15 lakhs.
