Mahindra Thar 5-Door Launch In June 2024?
During the last earning calls of Mahindra, Mr Rajesh Jejurikar, executive director and CEO, confirmed that the new Thar 5-Door is planned to go on sale around the middle of this year. This news is a big development for Thar 5-Door fans as it has been under testing for a long time now. Additionally, Mahindra is expected to use the iconic "Armada" name for the 5-Door model.
The upcoming 5-Door Thar is based on the Scorpio N platform. Whilst its design will look similar to the current 3-Door Thar, it'll get more space. There will be multiple variants with the options of single bench second row as well as captain seats. New features like an electric sunroof, a bigger infotainment screen, a digital instrument console, new steering wheels, etc., will be added to it.
Mahindra will continue using the petrol and diesel engine/gearbox options from the current 3-Door model. The tuning of these engines will be different due to longer chassis and added weight. Mahindra is likely to offer bigger 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and rear disc brakes on the top variants.
With the subtle hint of a launch timeline from Mahindra now, we expect that the new 5-Door Thar can hit the roads before the Diwali season. The introductory pricing for it will start from somewhere near Rs 15 lakh and go upwards of Rs 22 lakh for the top variants.
