Mahindra Thar 5 Door With Entry Level 1.5 Litre Diesel Mill: Bookings Unofficially Open

The forthcoming Mahindra Thar 5-door is set to hit the market in the upcoming months and according to various online sources, the new 5-door Thar will feature a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder diesel engine, similar to the one found in the current 3-door Thar RWD model. This 1.5-liter diesel variant is expected to serve as the base engine option for the lineup. In its current configuration in the Thar 3-door model, this engine delivers 117hp and 300Nm of torque, although it remains to be confirmed whether the power output will remain the same for the 5-door version.

The Thar Armada 1.5 diesel variant is positioned as a rugged five-seat alternative to the Scorpio N model. Higher variants of the Thar Armada are expected to feature the more powerful 175hp, 2.2-liter diesel, and 203hp, 2.0-liter turbo-petrol powertrains, similar to those found in the Scorpio N. It's anticipated that the new SUV will be available with both 4WD and 2WD configurations, and offer a choice of manual and automatic transmissions.

Bookings Open Unofficially

Dealers affiliated with Mahindra have initiated unofficial bookings for the highly anticipated Thar Armada (Thar 5-door) before its official launch. Although the brand has yet to make an official announcement regarding the commencement of bookings, several dealers have revealed that they are accepting orders from interested customers. These bookings entail varying amounts, typically ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000, contingent upon the specific dealership.

Expected Price And Rivals

In terms of pricing, the Thar 5 Door us expected to start from around Rs. 15 lakhs ex-showroom. It will directly challenge the recently launched Force Gurkha 5 Door. Although big-time dimensionally disconnected, Maruti Jimny also challenges it in the adventure segment.
