Mahindra Vision X Teased; Details!

The Vision X, as is the case with all the other Freedom NU concepts teased so far, leave quite plenty to the imagination. However, there are traces that make things just a wee bit easier to decode. For instance, the hood seems to get a more conventional, smoother shape and a more rounded profile that would be more in-line with a typical road-going car, rather than the boxy, squared-off design from Mahindra's usual portfolio. A closer look also shows glimpses of triangle-shaped elements near the headlamp area. The A-pillar also seems much more in-line with something you would see on road-going cars, and it also comes with bulging wheel arches

The electric version of the XUV700 has been spotted testing multiple times, and it is believed that the car maker might finally launch it some time this year. If you jog your memory a little bit, Mahindra had showcased a concept called the XUV.e8 in 2022, which was essentially the electric version of the XUV700.
Even though the design elements shown in the teaser appear similar the XUV.e8 concept (the electric XUV700), we think that the Vision X could perhaps be Mahindra's way of showing what the future holds for the current XUV700, especially because the electric 700 is going to bear the INGLO platform, which is EV-only and is more likely to be related to the XEV 9E.

The Vision X is then likely to be underpinned by the highly-anticipated Freedom NU platform, which may spawn off both combustion and electric powertrains, and there are strong rumours of a hybrid powertrain emerging as well. However, for now we will have to continue and wait till August 15 to know the juicy bits.

Verdict
The Vision X could be Mahindra's way of showing what the future holds for the XUV700. However, with the XEV 7E, or the XUV.e8 already planned, everything can only be considered speculation for now. However, is there an outside chance of the XUV500 coming back?
