The spotted Skoda Superb appears to be the top-spec Laurin & Klement (L&K) trim, finished in a sophisticated metallic beige. Unlike conventional sedans, the 4WD system on this version suggests that Skoda is positioning it for customers who want a premium sedan that can handle diverse road conditions. In its next-gen avatar, the new Superb retains its signature long and low stance, enhanced by a sharp shoulder line and a more sculpted front grille. Compared to its predecessor, the sedan is now 43mm longer and has seen a 10-15% improvement in aerodynamic efficiency as per brand.

Luggage capacity has also increased by 20 liters, now offering 645 liters of boot space. The sedan was also showcased at this year's Auto Expo, where the brand revealed that it was coming to Indian markets by later this year. While the interiors could not be spied this time, it is expected to stay in line with the international model currently on sale.

Interior And Features

Inside, the cabin draws inspiration from the Skoda Kodiaq, featuring three 'smart dial' controls that allow adjustment of seat heating, cabin temperature, infotainment volume, fan speed, and even navigation zoom. Depending on the variant, customers can choose between 10-inch and 13-inch touchscreen infotainment systems. The interiors of the sedan is crafted from recycled textiles and 'cognac' brown leather tanned using wastewater from olive processing. It remains to be seen if these elements inside the cabin are tweaked for the Indian market or continue untouched.

While the petrol variant was initially expected to debut first, it's the diesel version that has been spotted ahead of the anticipated India launch. There's a possibility that both petrol and diesel variants may arrive around the same time, giving buyers multiple powertrain choices upfront. As for the pricing, it will likely cost somewhere around Rs. 50 lakh mark ex-showroom.

Verdict

Skoda showcased the fourth-generation Superb at the 2025 Auto Expo, and the sedan is expected to launch in India by later this year. Unlike the Kodiaq, which is locally assembled, the Superb will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU). While this will likely affect sales volume, the focus remains on delivering a premium driving experience. Skoda has also highlighted that diesel engines continue to be in demand in the premium sedan segment, thanks to their torque and refinement, making the Diesel 4WD an attractive proposition for buyers seeking both performance and comfort. However, now, due to the uncertainity of diesel cars and SUVs over their lifecycle and regulatory shackles, petrol engine options are now more important than ever, even if the diesel makes its debut first.
