Ola's New 4680 Bharat Cells Explained

Ola's 4680 Bharat Cells are its most advanced battery technology yet, designed to offer superior efficiency, better thermal management, and improved longevity. The name "4680" refers to the cylindrical cell's dimensions, 46mm in diameter and 80mm in length, a globally adopted standard in high-performance EVs. These larger cylindrical cells bring several important advantages. They pack more energy, which means you get a longer range without increasing the battery size. They also have lower internal resistance, allowing the scooter to perform better while generating less heat. On top of that, these cells have a longer lifespan, helping the battery stay healthy for more years of use. And since they support faster charging, riders can top up their scooters much more quickly during short breaks.

Test Rides for the Updated S1 Series Begin

Ola has also begun offering test rides of its updated scooters at select flagship dealerships, giving customers a chance to experience the improvements firsthand. These updated models are powered by the brand's new 4680 Bharat Cells, which bring better range, stronger performance, and faster charging. The Ola S1 Pro+ is the first model in the lineup to use the 4680 Bharat cell. It comes equipped with a 5.2kWh battery pack paired with a 13kW motor. This setup gives out 0-40kph in just 2.1 seconds, along with a claimed range of 320 km within a single charge.

Verdict

Ola's move to introduce the 4680 Bharat Cells in the S1 Pro+ is a major step toward delivering real-world performance gains rather than just on-paper claims. With better range, quicker acceleration, and faster charging, the updated scooter feels more mature and technologically advanced. The start of test rides suggests Ola is confident in its new hardware, and for buyers, this could be the most refined Ola experience yet.
