As visible in the new spy shots, the upcoming Classic 650 will look identical to the Classic 350. As it'll be a retro-modern bike, most of its design will retain the cues from the Classic 350. The front design comprises a circular LED headlight with a metal cap. Also, the twin pilot lamps have been retained. The test mule seen here uses spoke rims that hint towards retro styling. It has a big sculpted fuel tank which might be taken from the Interceptor 650 but the design is a bit different.

What's interesting is that it is equipped with a single seat. This seat design is carried from the Bullet 350. However, we anticipate that RE will introduce a split seat setup in the later stage once the bike is ready. The tail section is again similar to the Classic 350. The hardware of it includes telescopic front suspension and dual springs at the rear. Also, the big disc brakes look similar to that on the Super Meteor 650. Meanwhile, the bike seen testing has optional accessories like bar-end mirrors and an engine crash guard.

Speaking of the mechanical setup, it'll use the tried & tested 648cc parallel-twin engine. This engine generates a peak power of 47 bhp & a peak torque of 52.3 Nm. It comes mated to a 6-speed transmission with a slipper clutch assist as well. However, we expect RE to re-tune the engine as per the dimensional and weight changes on the Classic 650. The performance will be more or less similar to the rest of the 650cc bikes depending on the weight. The rider sitting on the test bike looks upright hence the riding triangle is also going to be similar to the Classic 350. Also, the dual exhaust cans look different than the Super Meteor 650 & they are dipped in chrome outlook.

Verdict

The Classic 650 will be a big launch for Royal Enfield. In fact, the Classic brand name holds a strong value globally and in India as well. Hence, with a bigger engine and more features, the Classic 650 will make a strong case for itself. As per the online rumours, the Classic 650 will debut by mid 2024 globally. In India, it might launch by the next year's festive season. We expect its pricing to be around Rs 3.25 lakh.
