Royal Enfield Classic 650 Twin: What To Expect?
By now, multiple spy shots of the upcoming Classic 650 are revolving around the internet. It is going to be based on the same design language as the Classic 350. However, the bigger dimensions and bigger engine will enhance its on-road presence. The highlights of the design will include a round LED headlight, sculpted fuel tank, telescopic front suspension, chrome engine parts, and twin exhausts.
As it'll cater to retro-bike lovers, the features list might not be very extensive. We suspect that a semi-digital console with Bluetooth connectivity will be offered as standard on it. However, no ride modes, no traction control, and no other such features will be on offer.
Powering this neo-retro bike will be the 648cc oil-cooled engine. This powertrain is already used in the Super Meteor 650, Interceptor 650, and the Continental GT 650. Due to its weight and dimensional changes, the ECU and gear ratios can be re-tuned accordingly. A 6-speed transmission with assist and slipper clutch will also be equipped on it as standard.
One interesting thing that the spy shots have revealed till now, is the use of spoke rims. The spoke rims do add to the panache of classic design but they can't support tubeless tyres. If so, this will be a big miss yet again by Royal Enfiled as the current Himalayan customers are also very unhappy with the spoke wheels and their puncture problems.
As per the online rumours, the Classic 650 is destined to debut around EICMA 2024. Which means that it can be launched in India before the end of this year. The expected pricing will remain around Rs 3.25-3.50 lakh.
