New Design - Bigger & Better?

Royal Enfield Himalayan 450

The design of the upcoming Himalayan will get a revamp completely. It'll look a lot more like bigger ADV bikes with an elongated front and long travel suspension. As seen on multiple test mules, the front design will get a wider and more chunky appeal. Also, the tall windscreen and the new USD suspension will make it look more premium than the current Himalayan. Meanwhile, RE will offer a brand-new chassis on it. This chassis might be longer than the current model and hence the overall length of it shall increase. RE will offer split seats and the rider triangle shall be more sorted on the new bike.

Modern Features & Technology Updates

This is the most important area where the new Himalayan will exceed. We've already seen on test mules fitted with a fully digital instrument console. Hence, it'll become the first-ever RE bike to offer this console. Additionally, it'll get Bluetooth connectivity, navigation, AFE, & other details on the display. We also suspect that RE will offer traction control, different riding modes, & maybe even a cruise control system on it. Additionally, the test bikes spotted until now are all fitted with LED lights and LED indicators. This LED headlight will be the same as seen on the Super Meteor 650.

Bigger Engine - More Power!

Another major upgrade will be a new liquid-cooled engine. A suspected 450cc single-cylinder unit with liquid-cooling tech shall power the upcoming Himalayan. It'll also become the first-ever RE bike to get liquid cooling. Hence, the peak power output will range upwards of 40 bhp. Also, RE will fit a new 6-speed transmission on it with a slipper-assist clutch. Meanwhile, traction control and adjustable rear suspension will also be seen on the production bike. The front suspension will now be a new USD setup that, we anticipate, will also be adjustable.

Verdict - Launch Time, Price, & Rivals

The most recently spied test bike showed us that it is almost production-ready. RE has been completing its final rounds of road testing. We suspect that the new Himalayan 450 might debut globally by September 2023. However, it'll take some time to launch in India but around the upcoming festive season, it shall debut in the domestic market as well. Speaking of its pricing, it'll be placed around or upwards of Rs 3 lakh. It will due to a new engine & more electronics on hand. Currently, its only direct rivals in India are - KTM Adventure 390 & BMW G 310 GS.
