5 Factors That Make Skoda Kushaq an INSTANT HIT

Launched on June 28, 2021, the Skoda Kushaq has already garnered over 6,000 bookings, thereby helping its carmaker revitalise its monthly sales performance. In the words of Zac Hollis, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India, the Skoda Kushaq "was launched with the vision of substantially growing our volumes in India" and it does look like the new C-SUV is doing just that.

The high demand for the Skoda Kushaq has translated into a massive 234% YoY growth in the carmaker's July 2021 sales numbers. There's certainly a lot that's helping the Kushaq carve out a niche for itself. Let's take a look at 5 factors that are helping Kushaq attract new car buyers.

European styling

The Skoda Kushaq looks distinctly European and carries the clean, uncluttered look typical of VAG models. The front-end is characterised by the familiar grille and sleek headlamps with L-shaped LED DRLs. The side profile has a sporty touch to it with short overhangs and large-size 17" alloy rims. It's here that the taut surfaces and bold creases of the sheetmetal come to light and leave you impressed. The rear-end, again, has a familiar look and reminds one of premium Skodas like the Karoq and Kamiq. Overall, the Kushaq is a handsome SUV whose aesthetics are the right mix of sophistication and boldness.

Practical interior

The Skoda Kushaq is compact outside but spacious inside. With a best-in-segment wheelbase of 2,651 mm and a cleverly tailored cabin, the Kushaq ends up offering space to seat five in reasonable comfort whilst providing several storage spaces to help one stow away the knick-knacks. Speaking of storage, the 385-litre boot space easily swallows a family's luggage for a weekend trip to the mountains. The designed-for-India dashboard impresses with its clean layout and high-quality materials and the touch controls for the aircon further amplifies the sense of class that the cabin exudes.

High-end features

Apart from being spacious, the cabin is so feature-laden that it even puts some costlier cars to shame. The highlight of the equipment list is the XL-size 10-inch infotainment unit that offers a responsive touchscreen interface with crisp graphics, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support and a host of pre-installed apps like Gaana. Connected car features like geo-fencing, valet-mode and real-time data provider for increased ease of ownership. Last but not the least, there's even an electric sunroof to enhance your overall travel experience.

Performance

Coming from the house of highly loveable Octavia vRS, the Kushaq turns out to be the most enjoyable car to drive in its class. The C-SUV is available with two powerful turbocharged petrol motors, with the 1.5-litre option even providing you a DSG unit for lightening fast shifts. Both the engine options even offer a good fuel efficiency to let you get the maximum bang for the buck. And it's not just the straight-line performance that will leave you impressed; in true Skoda fashion, the Kushaq boasts great handling manners while providing the occupants with a comfortable ride over most surfaces. The great combination of powerful engines and confident handling manners makes the Kushaq the most performance-oriented SUV in its class.

Price

In a value-conscious and price-sensitive market like ours, it's always a challenge for carmakers to get the pricing strategy right. Thankfully, with the Kushaq, Skoda Auto India has hit the bull's eye. With prices starting from INR 10.49 lakh, the Kushaq is as affordable as its Korean rivals. Even its top-spec 1.5 Style DSG version costs only INR 17.59 lakh - this, in spite of the fact that it comes with a stonker of an engine and the world-class DSG transmission.
