Tata Nexon Dark Edition Teased Ahead of Imminent Launch

After starting the Dark Edition series with the Harrier, Tata Motors is now close to launching the Tata Nexon Dark Edition, which, like its elder sibling, will be based on the high-end trims and would command a premium over the regular model. The upcoming model was recently teased through a small video clip.

Bookings of the new all-black edition of the Tata Nexon have commenced unofficially at many dealerships and from the looks of it, most dealers have even started receiving the first batch of the vehicles. Officially, however, were expected to hear about the launch of the new vehicle only in the coming week or so. Once launched, the Nexon will become the only car in its segment to offer the option of this decidedly bold paint scheme.

Akin to the Tata Harrier Dark Edition, the Nexon features an Atlas Black colour scheme along with blacked-out trim. The front-end will carry grey-painted grille and bumper while the chrome appliques have been replaced with dark grey-coloured units. Similarly, the chrome on the window-line as well as on the bootlid will be replaced with dark grey trim. The alloy wheels have been carried over from the regular model, albeit, with a black paint finish. Finally, the badges will carry Dark badges.

Inside, the Tata Nexon Dark Edition will feature an all-black colour scheme in line with the exterior paint treatment. The light colour tones of the regular variants have given way to dark grey and black shades, while the trim around the aircon vents and also on several places around the cabin have been replaced with grey inserts to compliment the new colour scheme. Based on the XZ and XZ+ trims, the sub-compact-SUVs black edition will come with many features.

Mechanically, however, it will remain untouched. Just like the regular variants, the Dark Edition of the Tata Nexon will be sold with two turbocharged engine options 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel. The former outputs 118bhp while the latter provides the user with 109bhp. Transmission options for the two motors comprise a six-speed manual and a six-speed AMT unit.
