Toyota Teases Video of their Upcoming Mystery Hybrid/ EV for India

Toyota has released a small teaser video of their upcoming car, and were yet to confirm if the Yaris hatchback will finally be unveiled.

Toyota started 2022 on a high note, with the official confirmation of the Hilux set for launch in India. And to keep the momentum going, the Japanese marquee has now released a teaser video of another car, the chances of which will be a hybrid car, for the company claims that it will be self-charged. Now, whether we are looking at a hatchback or an SUV, and if it is the former whether this is the Yaris hatchback or not are the questions that we have tried to find the answers to below.

Clearly visible in the first shot of this video is the dashboard. As you can see in the image above -  the dashboard looks quite new, and the overall design is something that we have not noticed in any of its production cars from Toyota. This is the first clue, that the car teased in the video will be something entirely new. Furthermore, the infotainment screen gives away the fact that this is a new car.

Then theres the roofline. If youd notice carefully, the roofline tapers down on its way to the C-pillar, where the rear passenger is seated. The slope is not aggressive in design,  it feels like a straight above the B-pillar, but the post that the slop feels gentle. Had this been an SUV, we would have seen stronger shoulder lines, and straight lines as well.

And lastly, the biggest giveaway that confirms that Toyotas upcoming vehicle will be a hybrid car is the instrument cluster and the #selfcharged. If you see in the image below, the left side of the instrument cluster does not show a rev meter. Instead, theres the PWR zone, something thats mostly present in EVs, and it shows how much power is being drawn from the battery to pull the car.
