Triumph has officially started delivering the Scrambler 400 XC across India, marking the arrival of the priciest model in the brand's sub-500cc portfolio. Positioned above the Scrambler 400 X, the XC variant not only brings a more premium presence but also packs in functional upgrades. One of the standout updates on the Triumph Scrambler 400 XC trim is the addition of wire-spoke wheels that support tubeless tyres, a rare and welcome feature in this segment. It retains the same wheel sizes as the standard model: 19-inch front and 17-inch rear, both shod with dual-purpose tyres. Enhancing its scrambler appeal further are standard additions like a beak-style front fender, a tinted flyscreen, and adjustable brake and clutch levers when compared to the Scrambler X.

Despite the added equipment, Triumph has kept the core suspension hardware unchanged. The 400 XC continues with 43mm USD front forks and a gas-charged rear monoshock with preload adjustability, both offering 150mm of travel. However, due to the additional kit, the bike weighs 5kg more, tipping the scale at 190kg. Seat height stays at a manageable 835mm, making it approachable for most riders.
Triumph Scrambler 400 XC: Engine And Performance

Powering the bike is the same 398cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine found on the Scrambler 400 X and Speed 400. It continues to churn out 40PS at 8,000rpm and 37.5Nm at 6,500rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper-assist clutch. The increase in weight might slightly alter its responsiveness, but most riders likely won't notice a major difference in day-to-day performance.
Verdict
With deliveries now underway, the 400 XC enters the Indian market with a confident stance, offering a more feature-rich alternative to the standard model, without losing the core scrambler DNA. It may be a bit heavier, but with better hardware, new colourways, and touches like tubeless spoke wheels, it brings considerable value to riders looking for a true all-rounder with classic charm.
