Renault India was on full boost testing the HBC throughout the length and breadth of India before the lockdown. As the lockdown has eased up a little, the French marque has again started the testing of the upcoming Renault' compact SUV speculated as 'Kiger'. Renault calls it the HBC and it was expected to be unveiled at the Expo, but all Renault actually had at the pavilion was the Triber AMT and Duster turbo petrol.
Talking about the Kiger' design, although we can't make out many details from the test mule as it is covered with heavy camouflage, there are some details to talk about. The front of the Kiger will get the big Renault grille in the middle with a kink of it in the bonnet, same what we see in the Kwid. The Kiger will boast the trending split headlight design and the main headlight will be placed on the lower bumper. The main headlight will sport 3 individual LEDs and this has been taken from the Kwid K-ZE.

Talking about the side, the muscular wheel arches will boast with black cladding and the Kiger will ride on 16-inch alloy wheels. The test mule seen here seems to be a lower variant as it is running on steel rims and also lacks projector headlights. The rear sees little exaggerated taillights which comes out from the body giving it a wider stance on the road. Functional touches like roof rails and shark fin antenna will also be offered with the Kiger.
Talking about the interiors of the upcoming Renault Kiger, they will boast some good amount of features and some segment-best features are also expected. No spy shot of the interiors is leaked but some features like 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment, automatic climate control, steering mounted control, the digital speedometer may be offered. As per some speculations, features like an electric sunroof and 360-degree parking camera may also find their way in the top-spec trims.
Moving to the engines on offer, upcoming Renault Kiger is expected to be powered by a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine with 100 PS and 160 Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed manual and AMT box. To keep the costs lower than the competition, Renault may also plonk the naturally aspirated 1.0-litre engine in the Kiger from the Triber. Interestingly, the Triber you can see in pictures is also a test unit and can be the turbo petrol iteration of the regular Triber.

The launch of the Kiger is expected on this festive season. But as we are facing some unprecedented situations, the launch timeline can be stretched further. The Kiger will grow its roots in the segment of Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Ford Ecosport, Nissan Magnite and Kia Sonet. Phew! This segment is growing at a faster pace. But Renault will price the Kiger at a lower price tag and it may compete with the upcoming Tata HBX also.
