Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has officially launched the 2026 Hyundai Exter, featuring updated styling and new features, with a starting price of Rs 5.79 lakh (ex-showroom). 2026 Hyundai Exter - Exterior

With the 2026 update Hyundai has updated the front grille with a redesigned black radiator grille offering it a bold front look with new cenretre garnish. On the sides, it gets new 15-inch diamond cut alloy-wheels that looks more sporty. At the rear, it now comes with a new sporty wing-type spoiler, C-pillar garnish and a new tailgate garnish. Overall, the brand has made the Exter more appealing. Also, customers can now add on wheel arch cladding for a more muscular look. The new Exter now comes with a Golden Bronze and Titanium Black Matte colour option as well.
2026 Hyundai Exter - Interior

On the interior front, the brand has introduced a new dual-tone finish to the cabin. It now gets a navy and grey dual-tone interior theme, a 3D carbon-pattern dashboard finish, and a sporty D-cut steering wheel. Additionally, it comes with first-in-segment metal pedals. The brand has also added a height-adjustable drivers seat and adjustable rear headrests as standard fitment. Moreover, to enhance driver comfort, it now offers a driver armrest mounted on the drivers seat.

If we talk about the features of the new Exter, it continues to offer an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (wired, with wireless connectivity via an adaptor), steering-mounted controls, a new Type-C USB port for rear passengers, Bluelink connected features, and an electric sunroof, along with other convenience features. On the safety front, the brand has made up to 30 features standard, starting from the base variant, including six airbags, ESC, HAC, and more.

2026 Hyundai Exter - Engine Options
The Exter continues to be powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 83 PS of power and 113.8 Nm of peak torque. This engine is offered with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. Customers can also opt for a CNG variant, which is available only with a 5-speed manual transmission and comes with dual-cylinder technology.

Verdict
The Hyundai Exter is a strong rival in the small SUV segment. It stands out as the only SUV in its class to offer a factory-fitted dashcam, a 4-cylinder engine, and a host of segment-first features. With this update, the SUV has become even more appealing, offering a more feature-rich package and improved convenience for customers. The Exter continues to compete with the Tata Punch, Citroen C3, as well as other hatchbacks and compact SUVs in a similar price range.
