Volkswagen T-Roc First Look Review - Exteriors
The Volkswagen T-Roc has nothing to impress you with its size. It comes with compact dimensions and it even falls short to the Hyundai Creta. The T-Roc measures 4234mm in length, 1819mm in width and 1573mm in height with a wheelbase of 2590mm. The aesthetics of the T-Roc are quirky and it doesn't sport the typical Volkswagen design theme. You see honed out lines and creases no matter where you see.

The front of the T-Roc is the funkiest - featuring bumper-placed LED DRLs which also doubles as turn indicators. The LED headlights merge into the chrome-slat VW grille. The bonnet sports muscular lines while the side profile is accompanied by flared wheel arches. The T-Roc rides on 17-inch alloy wheels and also gets roof rails. The side profile gets a sharp shoulder line which goes to the tailgate too. Overall, the T-Roc looks class apart, it may not impress you with its gigantic proportions but will grab your eyeballs for sure.

The Volkswagen T-Roc is a mixed bag in terms of features and equipment but let's talk design first. The interiors of the Volkswagen T-Roc are minimalist and sporty. You get an all-black dashboard which gets an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with both Android Auto and Apple Car Play. Furthermore, the T-Roc also gets famous virtual cockpit which is better than that of the Creta. The rear legroom is decent but not the segment best and the seats are wrapped in Vienna leather.

Talking about the good ones first, the T-Roc gets a big panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, electric parking brake, 6 airbags, anti-slip regulation and lane-keep assist. But here comes the sour part - the T-Roc missis out on electric seats, cruise control, drive modes and even leather-wrapped dashboard. Even the Nissan Kicks comes with leather-wrapped dashboard and cruise control is a glaring omission in the T-Roc.
Volkswagen T-Roc First Look Review - Engine and Powertrain
The Volkswagen T-Roc comes with only a sole engine option in India, we aren't that lucky to get the powerful T-Roc R. However the engine is no slouch here - it is a 1.5-litre EVO TSI petrol engine which churns out 148bhp and 250 Nm of torque. The future VW and Skoda SUVs will also get the same engine. The engine is mated to the renowned 7-speed DQ200 DSG gearbox which is accompanied with steering-mounted paddle shifters. The result is an impressive performance and a good surge of power thanks to turbocharging.

Summing it up, the T-Roc is a crossover which won't appeal to everyone. Its distinctive looks and dimensions put it in a different segment which doesn't have any rivals. The price of the T-Roc is not impressive as it has been on sale through the CBU route. Volkswagen has offered the T-Roc in just Style variant which is priced at Rs 19.99 lakh ex-showroom, PAN India. The Volkswagen T-Roc, in terms of pricing, competes with SUVs like Tata Harrier, MG Hector and Jeep Compass.
